Szabó Zoological Department of the Hungarian Natural History Museum, Budapest I have recently aummarized (SZABÓ, 1962) Hungarian Siphonapterological literature.rather meagre both as to numbers and extent,as well as the history of the sporadic investigations. Prior to the publication of the results deriving from recent researches,it seems desirable to survey the available data acceptable with regard to the present political frontiers of our country. The first and also the sole Important work dealing with the known flea species in Hungary appeared more than sixty years ago (KOHAUT,1903 ). Unfortunately, the author lists the respective localities of some few species only, but I have still made use of his data because, on the one hand, the majority of the fleas collected by him had been captured from home hosts arriving in the LENDL-preparatory, and, on the other, the species listed have been found, except for some species, in the more recent collectings of the HUNGARIAN NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM. I have made exception with respect to one species only ( Rhlnolophopsylla unlpectinata unipectlnata /TASCHENBERG/), because its locality listed lies beyond our present borders.
