Berinlcey Zoological Department of the Hungarian Natural History Museum, 8uda, . r| Two apeciea of the genua Gobl o were known from Hungary: Gobio gobi o L..living in Europe and Northern Aeia, and Cobic uranoacopu a /AGASSIZ/, with its range limited to the water­system of the Danube. In 1959-1960, I wae aucceaaful to collect, from the Danube,the Tiaza,and the Rakaca, 31 fishea of the genua Gobl o which I wae unable to identify with either of the two species mentioned above. After a more thorough examination, I could establish the fact that th<3 specimens belong to Gobio albiplnnatus bellng i SLASTENENKO, a subspecies hitherto unknown in our fauna. The main characteristics of the apeciea are as follows; D. III. 7, A. II-III. /5/ 6, P. I. 13-15, V. I. 7 /8/, lin. lat. 40 41 /42/. Number of pharyngeal teeth 3.5-5.3,or 2.5-5.2„seldom 2.5-5.3. Number of branchial spines 4. Number of vertebrae 37-40. Length of body 8-10 cm. Body elongated, medium high, greatest height 17.4-21.6 % of standard length.
