BRANCH 15 — CHICAGO, ILL — SENTINEL By: Ernest C. Taylor, District Mgr. Well, we arrived back safe and sound from our vacation. We were in very beautiful country in the State of Minnesota. To be exact, we were about 600 miles northwest of Chicago on Big Sandy Lake, which is about 175 miles north of Minneapolis — St. Paul. Fishing was only fair but we managed to catch a few to eat, and the nights were very cool even though the days were in the eighties and the nineties. Just imagine, we had to come back to Chicago to this terriffic heat wave that is going on here in our Windy City, over 90 degrees of heat for at least half of the month of July. I am very sorry to report that while I was gone there were three deaths in Branch 15, our president’s father-in-law Mr. Ignatius Plank, Mr. Louis Szabó and Mrs. Joseph Tokovits. MAY THEY REST IN PEACE. I hear that the two sons of Frank Chvojcsek, Frank Jr. and Joe were selected to pitch in the Northwest Side Little League All Star Game. Good luck to the boys. I hear also that the son of Charles Kozarits is too a Little Leaguer in Elmwood Park, Illinois. ... Congratulations to Mary Hodits, the wife of our auditor Joe, on her birthday, July 28th. I understand that this couple will celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary in August. How is the new house coming, Joe? Elaine Mandziara, the former Puskarits girl, had a. baby son born to her on July 19th, weighing 7 lbs. and 7 oz. The Steve Stefely’s of Nagle Avenue also have a new arrival at their house. John Domokos and his wife have a new child, Marilyn Ann, born on July 12th, weighing 6 lbs. 6 oz. Mary Danko, a transfer from Youngstown to Chicago, reported the arrival of a baby on July 20th, and the John Boesze’s reported the coming of a new son, John Peter, on July 8th, Congratulations to all these proud parents. The following are on the expecting list: The Frank Feifars of New Carlisle, Ind., Mrs. Helen Kash, the former Helen Horvath; the Robert Reedy’s; the Rudy Varga’s; Joan Farley, formerly of the Puskarits family. I have just received a report that Edwin B. Gute, Whitefishbay, Wis., whose wife is our member, passed away. MAY HE REST IN PEACE. I know that this article will not appear before our August meeting of the 14th, which will deal in part with our bowling league. But everybody interested in the bowling league, IF YOU HAVEN’T ALREADY DONE SO, PLEASE CONTACT OUR PRESIDENT OF THE LEAGUE, MR. PAUL HETZEL, MR. STEVE HORVATH, OUR SECRETARY, OR MYSELF, AND LET US KNOW AS SOON AS POSSIBLE OF YOUR INTENTION TO BOWL WITH US THE COMING SEASON. ALSO, BRING YOUR ESTABLISHED AVERAGE FROM LAST YEAR, IF YOU HAVE ONE. I shall close now as I have quite a bit of work to catch up with in order to get back to normal after the vacation.
