NUMBER 7 THE NATIONAL PRESIDENT VERHOV AY FRATERNAL INSURANCE ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCEMENT I, the undersigned, President of the Verhovay Fraternal Insurance Association, in accordance with Section 6 of our Bylaws, do hereby announce that the XXIII Regular Convention of the Verhovay Fraternal Insurance Ass’n will be held at the WILLIAM PENN HOTEL Grant Street, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania BEGINNING MONDAY AT 9:00 A.M. (E.D.S.T.) SEPTEMBER 12, 1955, and I hereby request that the duly elected delegates to the National Convention of the Association appear at the aforementioned place at the designated time with their certificates of election. FRATERNALLY, COLOMAN REVESZ JOHN BENCZE National Secretary National President RÁKÓCZI AND VERHOVAY OFFICERS SIGN MERGER AGREEMENT Albert V. Kocsis, President of the Rákóczi Aid Association, signs the Merger Agreement at Bridgeport, Connecticut during the National Convention of his society, held in June, 1955. Looking on are the other signers, Verhovay National President John Bencze (sitting), Rákóczi Secretary Joseph Vasas (standing left), and Verhovay National Secretary Coloman Revesz (standing right). This momentous event is the culmination of two years of negotiations between the leaders of the two fraternal benefit societies. The Joint Convention of the two societies will begin a few day after the Verhovay Fraternal Insurance Association convokes its XXIII Regular Convention at the William Penn Hotel, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, at 9:00 A.M., Monday, September 12, 1955. MINUTES OF THE DISTRICT SESSIONS District 1 The meeting is held on June 12, 1955. 1. The meeting is opened by William Rakaczky, delegate from Br. 424. 2. Frank Benczkober, delegate from Branch 197, is elected district chairman for the coming four years. 3. William Rakaczky, delegate from Branch 424, is elected recording secretary for the coming four years. 4. All delegates present at this meeting, namely, Branches 38, 175, 188, 197, 269 and 424, make a report on the wishes of their respective branches and also report that the work of the National Officers and the Board of Directors is entirely satisfactory. 5. Nominations for delegate and alternate delegate are next with the results as follows: William Rakaczky of Branch 424 elected unanimously as delegate, Mrs. Michael Skok of Branch 175 elected alternate delegate. 6. All business ended, the chairman closes the meeting. WILLIAM RAKACZKY, District Recorder District 1-B The meeting is held on June 26, 1955 at Bridgeport, Conn. 1. The time is 2:00 P.M. as the meeting begins and the district officers are elected. 2. Alexander Nagy is elected district chairman and Ladislaus Csenger district recorder. 3. The Verhovay-Rakoczi merger is discussed and District 1-B unanimously accepts it. 4. The inquiry about restoring dividends to the insured having older certificates is discussed, also it is recommended that age 80 be the limit, instead of the present age 85, for paying premiums on this type certificate. 5. Ladislaus Csenger is elected delegate to the Verhovay National Convention and Alexander Nagy his alternate. The district session meeting expenses amount to $61.50. —ALEXANDER NAGY —LADISLAUS CSENGER District Chairman District Recorder District 1-C The meeting of this district, comprizing Branch 48, New York, N. Y., is held on June 3, 1955, at 8:00 P.M., in the Arpad Hall. Branch president Alexander Ancsanyi opens the session by emphasizing the primary importance of the meeting, the election of the Convention delegates. Joseph Hattayer is unanimously elected chairman to conduct the meeting. Director Aloysius C. Falussy speaks, noting that the elected representatives to go to the Verhovay Convention must be both qualified and sincere. Next is the discussion of what formal presentations the delegates are to make to the Convention, and the inquiries are answered by Director Albert Ibos, Joseph Hattayer, Ralph Geller and Dr. Bela Mark. A vote is taken on the change of name question. For the American name there are 21, for the retention of the Magyar name 7. The results of the secret ballot for the election of delegates are: DELEGATES: Stephen Sipos, Alexander Apcsanyi, Charles Fabian and John Partmann; ALTERNATE DELEGATES: Louis Jager, Ralph Geller, Andrew Tyukody and Ernest Feher. —JOSEPH TOMA, District Recorder District 2-B The meeting is held on June 5, 1955 at Trenton, N. J. 1. The meeting is opened by president Frank Radvany. Twenty-seven members are present to make important decisions at this session and to discuss such salient matters as the merger between Verhovay and Rákóczi. 2. Field Supervisor Frank J. Cher, manager, is entrusted with the minutes of the meeting recording. 3. The motion of Nicholas Toth, that premiums be no longer payable after membership of fifty years, is seconded and carried, and will be presented at the Convention. 4. Another motion of Nicholas Toth, that the Directors and the members of the Auditing Committee be permitted to vote at the National Conventipn and accept a national office therefrom only if they are present as delegates from the district, is made, seconded and carried. 5. District 2-B goes on record to recommend that when the Bylaws are modified and amended, before a Convention, the results be shown paragraph for paragraph. 6. The delegate is empowered by the meeting to use his individual judgment for the best interests of his constituents and the Association. 7. Frank Radvany is unanimously elected delegate to the National Convention. 8. Ladislaus Dobos is unanimously elected alternate delegate. 9.
