12TH ANNUAL VERHOV AY NATIONAL BOWLING TOURNAMENT VOL. XXXVIII. March 16. 1955 51 NUMBER 3. THEY’RE CLOSING IN... TOURNA MENT-FELLOWSHIP DAYS This is March. In just two more months — and months go fast — the 12th Annual Verhovav National Bowling Tournament and 1955 Verhovav National Fellowship Days will take place in Chicago. Illinois May 28-29, the Memorial Day (Decoration Day) week end. This yearly stupendous sports-fraternal spectacle is how the Verhovay Fraternal Insurance Association expresses to its entire, membership that ours is truly a PRACTISING fraternal society, devoted to the noble cause of doing everything feasible for the benefit of the members and the progress of the association. No member in good health, proper circumstances and available free time should forego the grand opportunity of participating in the coming Chicago program. It is an affair for youth and age, for the sports-minded and the socially inclined, for those who enjoy reunion among friends. Nothing is left out in the manner of satisfying everyone. Yes, in the familiar words, it’s one for all and all for one! The tournament itself promises to be a most successful spectacular of clean sport and fun. The number of applications so far coming from our bowling teams scattered throughout the country is overwhelmingly impressive. The rivalry among the various teams in Chicago, although friendly, will be keen, and even the non-bowling spectators will enjoy a kind vicarious satisfaction as they shout enthusiastically for their favorites Of course the Victory Dinner-Dance is the social climax to good bowling. Sepessy and his Orchestra, the most 'sought after Hungarian musical aggregation in Chicago and environs, will play for the Victory Dinner-Dance. Sepessy and his Orchestra have musical versatility as our Verhovayans will find out. They are not limited to a few types of dance music. “Call ’em and they’ll play ’em’’ may well be said of the fine Hungarian orchestra. To add to the pleasure of this superb social wil1 be the delicious banouet, a menu that will satisfy everybody’s hunger. We are not listing the menu now. Perhaps it would be best to keep it a secret, thus adding to your delight. There is nothing to add to the fame of the Conrad Hilton, your headquarters hotel. It is topmost among the luxury hotels. Your lodging there will be majestic, and of course the Victory Dinner-Dance will be held in its gorgeous atmosphere. Trail-blazing the success of the coming great Verhovay event is the National Executive Tournament Committee, which has in its membership Vice President Dr. Andrew Kovács, Chairman, Director Richard J. Phillips, and National Auditor John Sabo, Tournament Administrator. Director Phillips, after an absence of one year, is back on the committee. We welcome his fine, work. The National Executive Tournament Committee suffers many oi the proverbial headaches laying the groundwork for the Tournament-Fellowship Days. Then there is the membership campaign which for months precedes the big spectacle held the end of May. This year it is the Turner-Falussy-Phillips Membership Campaign, named for the late Director Joseph Turner and for Directors Aloysius C. Falussy and Richard J. Phillips. HONOR THESE DIRECTORS BY DOING YOUR PART TO HELP INCREASE THE VERHOVAY MEMBERSHIP. We may add that the Chicago area under Field Supervisor Frank Wukovits and his worthy assistants, District Managers Ernest C. Taylor and Frank T. Kajdi of Chicago, and District Manager Michael Tothfalusi of East Chicago, Indiana, is working very hard in a local drive to bring up their membership before May 28-29. GOOD LUCK. Back to the hilt the Turner-Falussy-Phillips Membership FOUNTAIN OF BEAUTY Kaufmann and Fabry Photo Spring time in Grant Park would be a fit short identification of this picture, and spring time it will be when Verhovay holds its yearly bowling and fraternal spectacle in Chicago. The fountain you see is a pageant of multi-colored beauty at night. Grant Park is' a short distance from the Conrad Hilton and can be seen front some points in the hotel BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING! The first regular meeting of the Board of Directors in 1955 takes place the week of March 21st. The Board of Directors will come to review the business f of our Association for the last six months. It will consider the past, study the present and prepare for the future as it functions for the best interests of our society. The Board of Directors will be happy about the yeSr 1954 because in the past year our membership increased beyond our predictions and optimistic wishes, and the amount of protection sold was very high. At the end of 1954 Verhovay had,3550,781,285 insurance in force, while carrying assets valued at $15,368,856.14 These are impressive figures. 1955 is Convention year in Pittsburgh, in September. Therefore the problems of the Board of Directors are many. Among those problems is setting the time of the District Sessions. Other pre-Convention decisions must be made in addition to the normal business of the meeting. But the Board of Directors, in its wisdom, shall again successfully fulfill its high responsibilities. WELCOME VERHOVAY BOARD OF DIRECTORS Campaign. Remember that the success of this drive means more to you and you and you who own the Verhovay Fraternal Insurance Association. GO TO IT i We return briefly to May 28-29, 1955. DON'T MISS THE 12TH ANNUAL VERHOVAY NATIONAL BOWLING TOURNAMENT and 1955 VERHOVAY NATIONAL FELLOWSHIP DAYS. You couldn't have so much concentrated pleasure in -so little time!
