Verhovayans Star in Pittsburgh Play

A very entertaining Hungarian comedy, “Visszavár a szarkaláb” (The Larkspur Awaits Your Return), provided the vehicle for the dramatic talents of a Home Office employee, and a branch manager.

Mrs. Alexander Beres, the former; Margaret Vecsey, employed at the Home Office and Frank Gyapjas,: manager of Branch 575, Pittsburgh, Pa., starred as the village parents beset by the problems brought home; by their romantic daughters. Mrs.! Beres’ theatrical ability goes back1 to her childhood days when in local; Hungarian plays she was outstanding for her natural acting, and this' recent performance of hers certainly: showed no rusting of the histrionic. \

The comedy, embracing a sizablel cast of fine acting ability, was rich! in Hungarian music and folk dances.!

Mrs. László Juhasz Harangi, wife! of the pastor of the First Hungarian Reformed Church, Pittsburgh, wrote this excellent play which was staged the evening of June 4, 1954 in the auditorium of the Pittsburgh Hungarian Social Club.

A full house, at which our Verhovay National Officers were present, gave the stamp of popular approval to “Visszavár a szarkaláb.”
