PAGE 12 Verhovay BRANCH 15 — CHICAGO, ILL. — SENTINEL By: Andrew Janovics, Vice-President Our picnic is now a thing of the past, but happy thoughts stay with us still. To the close to a thousand persons who were present we say, “Thank You’’ for having come to this affair and hope you had a very enjoyable time. We wish to thank Field Assistant to the National President Elmer Charles for his very kind speech to the assembled group and for his help. ALL you grand bartenders, ALL the kitchen help, ALL the help at the ice cream and 'soda pop stands, ALL the helpers at our bingo table, and ALL other helpers in anyway whatever: THANKS! 'Your work was greatly appreciated. Special thanks to Mrs. Paul Moravcsik for her kind donation of the delicious home made banana peppers that were served with the kolbász sandwiches. The winners of the TWO Diamond Rings (door prize),donated by Stephen Spieler, were first, Mrs. Alex Haberman, 1305 N. Western Avenue, Chicago, and second, Bill Kruchten, 1859 N. Bring family and friends there as basket picnic grounds are available, as well as horseback riding and a swimming pool. DO NOT FORGET THIS TOURNAMENT! ALL NEIGHBORING BRANCHES INVITED! AUGUST 22, 1954—FUN FOR ALL! Our service news this month concerns Richard Mueller and Eugene Komives, Jr. Richard Mueller is now in the service of his country in the Army Air Borne Division (Paratrooper), Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Richard is the son of the Muellers of Blackhawk Avenue. Lots of luck, Richard, and do drop us a line or two now and then as we would enjoy following your career as a service man. Eugene Komives, Jr., son of Eugene Komives of Gene’s Tavern, was home on leave looking very well and as handsome as ever. Eugene was stationed at Labrador for quite some time, now expects to go to Maryland. He has 18 more months to serve to complete four years of service. Apologies to Matt Balog who was on the winning team of bowlers of the Friday night Lakeview league. We erroneously stated previously that Mike Balaskovits bowled on the winning team at the match game, but this was wrong. It was Matt who bowled at the match game between Lakeview and Gateway. Do forgive the error, Matt! Joseph B. Mayer of N. Lakewood Avenue has been hospitalized for more than eight weeks due to eye surgery. We hope that by now he is greatly improved. Our CONDOLENCE to Lucille and James Goodrich of Phoenix, Arizona, upon the recent loss of their II year old son who passed away Saturday, June 5. Mrs. Goodrich, the former Lucille Fodor, is the sister of “Genie” Olsen and the niece of Marge Fodor of Ashland Avenue. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Ardella are now the proud parents of a little girl who was named Judy Ann Ardella. Judy was born May 5 and tipped the scales at 5 lb. 14 ounces. Our congratulations to the happy parents. Mike and Ella Bono (my sister-in-law), are now proudly showing off their baby daughter, Diana Jane Bono, who was born Monday, June 7, at a healthy 6 lbs. and 3 ounces. Their older daughter, Sandra, now going on 4 years, just loves playing nurse to the little baby. Congratulations, Ella & Mike, and WELCOME to Diana Jane, our new Branch 15 member. Open house was held at the Schmidt residence June 27 in honor of their daughter Marion on her graduation. Congratulations to the graduate and much luck for the future. June was the month for the wedding of Elaine Puskarits. Also, June 26 was the day of the wedding of Sarah Gallo. Best of luck to the hauuy brides.
