Spring has come once again to this city of “Brotherly Love,” and by the looks of faces that pass me by, it is welcomed with great ferver. Even though Chicago saw snow, Philadelphia has been graced with typical •spring weather. With spring finally here and the cold winter just a memory, only to be anticipated next year, of course Easter Sunday is. on the mind of everyone. The Easter parade saw much finery exhibited, and the hearts of young children were filled with the joy of the Easter Bunny and gayly decorated Easter eggs. We are all children at heart and we all like to have a good time, whether it be a special occasion or just another working day. And the good time we yearn for in the beautiful and balmy spring weather that usually brings spring fever to us all was considered when Branch 76 planned to have the Grand Easter Ball on April 18, 1954, at the Dalarda, 4th Street and Girard Avenue. What day could be better than the beautiful day of Easter Sunday ? What season of the year could be better than the joyous spring time ? We feel that the Dalarda’s Women’s Auxiliary should be given special recognition, as without their work and preparation the dances held would not be so successful as they are. A big thank you to all of them from all of us! One thing that would be especially nice for this Easter season, and all seasons to come, would be to see more young people participate in these dances held. A grand turn-out is always shown by the older men and women, but why don’t we young people do better than in the past? We feel sure a good time can be had for a cheery atmosphere is always prevalent. We feel sure that there are young folks who would like to cóme but are a little shy, so to them we say, “Come ahead.” Let’s see if there won’t be a marked improvement in the attendance of young people at our dances. The excitement of the coming journey to New York City for the annual bowling tournament is slowly coming to a peak. All members not going, as well as those who are and the team itself, feel the tension mounting. We hope the team won’t be so excited that it forgets to bring home the honors. The members and officers of Branch 76 wish to express deep sympathy to Mr. Bajusz of 1212 North Fourth Street, former controller, who is now ill. We’re all rooting for you, Mr. Bajusz, so get well soon. Since “Quaker City News” is a fairly new column and one written for the all members, it would be appreciated if anyone who has any ideas to make the column a better one would please to let us know. Please send your comments or suggestions to Miss JoAnn McLaughlin, 183 West Monmouth Street, Philadelphia 33, Pa.
