By: Andrew Janovics, Vice-President SENTINEL This month just flew, really flew it seems, and here it is time to write another article. Which reminds me, I must be sure to tell you that the Christmas party and election meeting of December 20th will be the last affair we will have at the Northwest Hail as, at our November meeting, it was voted upon that the meeting hall be changed. In 1954 our meetings will be in the Lions Building, 4306 West North Avenue, in the Blue Room which is on the second floor, except on January 17 when we will have a card and bunco party in the Alpine Room, which is also on the second floor. Therefore, do keep in mind THE LIONS BUILDING, ALPINE ROOM in January, and the BLUE ROOM starting in February. After the November Meeting a group of us went to member Eugene Komives’ (Gene’s Tavern) for his famous pork supper (disznótoros vacsora) which we all enjoyed thoroughly. Wednesday, November 18, the bowlers had as a spectator none other than Elmer Charles from the Home Office. He was in Chicago trying to find another “Ernie Taylor*t to take over the south side branches. If any of you reading this might he interested in becoming district manager, taking care of a nice group of members, do drop Mr. Charles a letter (stating your qualifications;, in care of the Home Office, or call Ernest Taylor at Humboldt 9-2939, or me at Van Bmcn 6-8019. We would be glad to forward your message. November 21, a group of us, including Mr. Charles, went to the .supper given by the Bridgeport^ Rákóczi Branch 141, of which our member Frank F'oldi is the president. We had an enjoyable evening and were pleased to note that about half of the people present were Verhovay as well as Rákóczi members. With, regret, we left early but with eageh anticipation to attend the Hard Times- Party which tfie Revelers (our own Branch 15 young people’s group) held that same evening. I don’t know what it was, probably that all the young folks made us feel young ard gay, or what, but believe me we had one of the most enjoyable evenings we ever had. We give CREDIT to them for a job well done. Elmer Charles, Ernest Taylor and I were given the honor of being the judges for the polka contest, which was to see who could, stay longest on the floor and still do the best polka. We wondered, after about a half an our of steady (lancing, who would give out first, the band or the dancers. When we finally stopped the orchestra, eight couples remained and we awarded the prize to the couple we thought was best. It was a hard decision because they were all good. Zoltán Papp, son of Mrs. J. Papp of N. Kostner Avenue, was married recently. We hope to have the young couple’s picture for our next issue. We saw- him and his lovely bride (with star dust still 'in their eyes) enjoying themselves at the Ujmagyarok Dance, evening of November 28. Congratulations and best wishes to the newlyweds. Congratulations and best wishes also to Gabriel Toth and his lovely bride who took the step just recently. Congratulations to the Joseph Boniferts of Oak Park Avenue on the birth of a lovely gill, Joan Margaret Bonifert, whose birth date is September 4th. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Leo Whited on the birth of their fifth child, a boy, Joel L. Whited, wnose birth date is in September. Our women’s bowling league of Wednesday nig-ht will be minus a member (for a good while at least). Margaret Kunstadt had the misfortune of breaking an ankle during the Thanksgiving holiday’. Also sick are Mrs. Joseph Kadon, Joseph Pszotu, Mrs. Carl Heisen and Mrs. Mary Vaughan. A speedy recovery to them all. A Meny, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all.
