Minutes taken at (he meeting of District 15, held on June 17, 1951, in Logan, W. Va. District President Vagner calls the meeting to order. Cordially welcoming the representatives iattending the meeting, he voices his regret that of the 9 branches assigned to the district only three have July 18, 1951 Coloman Bertalan, candidate for the position of local District Manager, Julius Kerekes, Manager of Branch 27, announced to the officers and members present that due to his wrorking conditions, he is unable to secure enough new members to insure the satisfactory growth of thel branch. Rather than to be one to prevent the progress of the Association, he submitted his resignation to the Home Office requesting that a full-time Manager be apointed by the Home Officg in his place. Beth Field Manager Rettmann and District Manager Dus assured the members that Mr. Kerekes always was held in the highest esteem of the Home Office for the conscientious manner in which he conducted the management of the Branch, so much so, that he was offered the full-time position in the first place. Due to thd fact that he could not accept, the Home Office recommended Mr. Bertalan for this position. The officers and members present unanimously expressed their sincere appreciation of the Association’s and the Home Office’s fraternal generosity in providing a full-time District Manager to serve the Toledo branch. As the President of the Branch, who had read a great deal about the controversy on this matter, pointed out: “We’ll never progress, unless we learn and how can we learn how this program will work out, unless we give it a fair trial?” (Continued on page 3) sent delegates to the district meeting. In his opinion, he states, it is the membership that deprives itself of its rights guaranteed in the By- Laws and not the Home Office dictators (as some have thundered for months in a certain Hungarian paper.) The credentials are examined. Present are the following branchrepresentatives: 350, Alexander Tarpoly, 509, Moses Domokos and 248, Andrew Vagner and John Vizi, a total of 4 delegates. Chairman calls on the district secretary to read the minutes of the last district session. The minutes are unanimously adopted and approved. Letters of the Home Office pertaining to the district meeting and from Branch 213 stating it cannot attend the meeting, are read. The meeting then discusses the recommendations of the branches. A hospitalization insurance plan shall be set up and introduced by the Verhovay. The branch-manager who is appointed by the Home Office shall not be eligible to serve as delegate to either the district meeting or to the National Convention. The district opposes the reduction of the members of the Board of Directors from thirteen to nine. No onq who ever belonged to a subversive, extremist society, club or organization, shall be eligible to any office whatsoever. The National Convention shall rule that in the future its decisions, as those of the highest forum of the Association, shall be respected by the Board. The District does not approve of the appointment of branch managers by* the Home Office. The district does not approve of the establishment of an assistance fund. The following district officers are elected: District President Andrew Vagner from Branch 248, district secretary John Vizi, from Branch 248, delegate to the National Convention, John Vizi of Branch 248 and alternate Moses Domokos from Branch 509.
