RETTMANN, Field Manager VERHOVAY FRATERNAL INSURANCE ASSOCIATION 436 FOURTH AVENUE PITTSBURGH 19, PA. MINUTES OF THE DISTRICT MEETINGS DISTRICT 1-C Branch 48, New York, N. Y. 3.) On June 1, 1951, at 9 p.m. Mr. Albert Ibos, President of District 1-C called the meeting to order. 2.) Upon nomination of Albert Ibos for District President and Joseph Toma for District Secretary for the coming four years, both were elected to serve these capacities for the next four year term. 3.) Second on thej agenda was the election of delegates and alternate delegates to the Convention. 4.) Nominated were: Albert Ibos, George Boszilkov, Joseph Hattayer, Stephen Sipos, James Siket, Alexander Balogh. The members of District 1-C decided that two alternates will be sufficient to take the places of absentees from among the elected delegates. 5.) Elected were as delegates to the National Convention: 1.) Albert Ibos, 2.) Stephen Sipos, 3.) Joseph Hattayer and 4.) George Boszilkov. Mr. Alexander Balogh was elected first and Mr. James Siket second alternate delegate. 6.) The new proposed amendments to the By-Laws, adopted by the. Board of Directors at their April 1951 meeting, were discussed, studied and voted upon. Each of the four new proposals was accepted by District 1-C by a majority vote. 7.) It was proposed and accepted by Districti 1-C that the proposed amendments adopted by the Board of Directors at their September 1950 meeting, be studied carefully by each delegate and that a complete report of their findings shall be made to District 1-C at the September meeting before the Convention. There being no further1 proposals for changes made by the members of District 1-C, except that; the delegates were instructed to work in harmony for the advancement of our Association, Mr. Albert Ibos declared the meeting adjourned. JOSEPH TOMA, District Secretary. DISTRICT 5-B Br. 174, Scranton, Pa, The 5-B district meeting was held on June 3rd at the regular meeting hall of Branch 174, St. Stephen’s R.C. Hall, in Scranton, Pa. President John Nemeth called the meeting to order at 2:15 p.m., and read the instructions in regards to the election of delegates to the National Convention. The meeting, then, proceeded to elect one delegate. John Nemeth was elected to represent Branch 174 at the Convention and Mr. Anthony Racz was elected alternate delegate. A few resolutions were offered by the members present and the delegate was instructed to present same to the Convention. ANTHONY RACZ, District Secretary. DISTRICT 8-C Br. 34, Pittsburgh, Pa. Minutes of the meeting held on June 10, 1951, in the Hungarian Hall of Pittsburgh. 1.) Vice-President of Branch 34, Alexander Simonyak, calls the meeting in order and announces that due to Paul Marton, President of the District, being confined to hospital, the meeting will be conducted by him. 2.) He calls for nominations for the Convention. The meeting nominates George Mészáros and John Demko. After counting the ballots, chairman announces that John Demko has been elected delegate to the Convention with 13 votes and George Mészáros alternate delegate with 10 votes. 3.) The district meeting discusses the recently proposed amendments to thg By-Laws recommended by the Board of Directors and takes the following actions: a.) No one who belongs or did belong to a subversive party, organization or movement shall be eligible for any office, b.) The district meeting wishes that the presently effective differentiation between the English speaking and Hungarian speaking branches be retained, d.) The District Meeting does not approve of the proposed reduction of the members of the Board of Directors from 19 to 9. It is recommended that the Board shall consist of 15 members in the future, e.) The District 'Meeting resolves to hold a conference for discussing recommendations in regards to further amend- j ments to the By-Laws to be proposed which recommendations shall be presented to the meetipg of Branch 34 which in turn shall authorize Convention Delegate John Demko to present same at the National Convention. f.) The schedule of business having been exhausted, chairman Alexander Simonyak adjourns the meeting. ALEXANDER SIMONYAK, District President, JOHN FULOP, District Secretary. DISTRICT 9 Barnesboro, Pa. The meeting of District 9 was held on June 4, 1951, in Barnesboro, Pa. 1.) Elected were Pei er Cuprak of Branch 61, President, and John Olexa of Branch 347, Secretary. 2. ) Chairman orders the examination of the delegates’ credentials which were found in order. 3.) The following are present: John Toth of Branch 31, Peter Cuprak of Branch 61, Stephen Mészáros of Branch 242, Nicholas Gyürke of Branch 386, and John Olexa, Sr., of Branch 347. The meeting is called to order by the President. 3. ) District 9 by majority vote approves the amendments to the By- Laws submitted by the Home Officeand the Board of Directors. 4. ) District 9 requests that in cases of apparent illness, members of the Sick Benefit department be entitled | to sick benefits from the first day J of disability. 5.) District 9 requests that the Convention to be held in September be completed within one week in order that excessive expenditures be avoided. 9. ) John Toth is elected delegate to the National Convention and Peter Cuprak alternate delegate. 10. ) The meeting is adjourned. Minutes taken at the meeting of District 17-C, comprising St. Stephen's Branch 21 of Youngstown, O., held on June 3rd, 1951, at 3 p.m., at St. Stephen’s Hall. The meeting is called to order by District President Augustus Habodasz, who requests District Secretary Joseph Danish to read the minutes of the district meeting held on January 7, 1951. It was moved and seconded that the minutes be approved. The motion was carried. Joseph Danish district secretary reads proposed amendments to the By-Laws adopted by the Board of Directors at their meeting held on April 2, 1951, and the following days. It is moved and seconded that the proposed amendments be adopted. The motion is carried. Joseph Danish district secretary requests that the credentials be presented to Joseph Habodasz, delegate, and Stephen Horvath, Sr., alternate delegate, whereupon the credentials so issued were signed by the district president and the district secretary. President Augustus Habodasz urges the members to assist in the securing of as many new members as possible until the Convention and then, the schedule of business" having been exhausted, he adjourns the meeting.
