Clark St., Chicago 13, 111., where the 8th Annual Verhovay National Ten Pin Tournament is to be1 held on May 5 and 6, 1951. Shown is a large section of the main bowling floor where we find a total of thirty excellent alleys. Twenty more are on the floor above. A large “VERHOVAY” sign on the wall at the end of the 16th and 17th alleys indicates that preparations are.under way for the big event at which at least a hundred Verhovay teams are expected to compete for the Frank Brogley and Albert A, Ari championship trophies, and the other awards, trophies and prizes that will be distributed among the leading bowlers. Let’s keep in mind that this will be an ALL HANDICAP tournament and, in this, it will be different from the previous .ones. Even the championship winners in the team, two-man, individual and all-events will be determined on the basis of ACTUAL SCORE PLUS HANDICAP. Let’s keep in mind also that the deadline for mailing applications for tournament entry is MIDNIGHT, MARCH 5, 1951, much earlier than in past years because the tournament, too, will be held at an earlier date than usual. The RULES AND REGULATIONS of the 8th Annual Verhovay. Ten Pin Tournament have been published in the October 18, 1950, edition and a reprint was published in the December issue. For the convenience of the bowlers a, final reprinc will appear in the February 21, 1951, issue, shortly before the deadline date for the filing of applications for entry. Action in regards to participation,, however, should be taken at an early date by each team, because according to the new rules each application must be approved by the regular branch-meeting. A Tournament Album will be published for the occasion. Plans are being made now by the National Executive Tournament Committee and the Chicago Tournament Committee Lakeview Alleys is the properly of Mr. John Jenkins, who with his Hungarian descendant wife, the former Helen Teller, and their two beautiful daughters, will be the hosts to the bowlers of the Verhovay and the many spectators attending Verhovay’s great sports event. They, as well as the Chicago Tournament Committee will make every effort; to make this the finest tournament ever sponsored by our Association. POWER CITY NEWS SPRINGDALE. PA.
