After a number of years comparable to that of Rip Van Winkle’s long sleep, it appears that; steps are being taken to raise the Association’s standards to a level: equal with the best of fraternal societies. Field Manager Henry Rettmann’s statement on policy and aims has long been over due. Field Manager Rettmann’s bold approach to this problem should certainly bring results. Best of luck to Mr. Rettmann 1 in his new endeavor. BOWLING. — After several meet- I irrgs and the clearing of a few ob- Í stacles, our three bowling teams got j off to a flying start. The same old complaint about averages still prevails however. Everyone thinks that he has a better bowling average except during league bowling. But you can’t get away from the fact that! one’s average is only as good as the bowler! The No. 1 team has been bouncing back and forth between first and second place. It finally' managed to sneak into top position. The No. 2 team has been stationary in fourth place while the No. 3 team has been in the cellar, that is, last place. Under the leaderships of Captains Nick Koricich, Paul Tarpay, and Pete Mazak, we are confident that the teams will be in tip-top shape by tournament time. . Speaking of the tournament, since some identification between teams and branches is a must, I think that, the best uniform prizes should have been retained. What better means of identification is there then by a uniform. (Editor’s note: See Rule No. 7 of New Rules and Regulations in last month’s i^sue.). EUCHRE TEAMS: The Euchrei teams that have been so popular in the past is rather a disappointment The meeting held October 24, 1950 under the direction of President Alex Mészár called for a rebirth of fraternal life within our branch. A special committee was appointed to work out an entertainment program. As a result of the action of j this committee, Chairman Julius Lénáit announces to all members of Branch 395 and friends that a very fine musical evening will be held Tuesday night at 8 o’clock, November 28, .1950. Dr. Sándor Mészáros, a recent arrival to this country, who is an accomplished violinist, will be the featured guest. He will be accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Sándor Nagy of Versailles, Pa.
