Thank You Verhovay Mining Districts This Association nil! he ever grateful to its coal mining members. Ever since* February 21. 1886 when the Verhovaj Fraternal Insurance Association was founded by thirteen coal miners, this group of workers has demonstrated its faith and confidence in the society. Their cooperation and interest in this Association — their Association — made it possible for the organization to become one of the largest fraternal benefit societies. When the going at times was a little trying they worked even harder. They had (the right kind of faith, and this faith inspired confidence not only in the Association but in the officers as welj. This faith and confidence was demonstrated once again, this time to Field Supervisor Elmer ( hartes who visiterl and worked with the branch officers in West Virginia, "Virginia and Kentucky. It was the first meeting between the new Field Supervisor of Field II and the leaders of these I brandies, and to say that the trip I was successful is putting it but mild- I ly. The warm hospitality, the under - I standing and the cooperation extend] ed to Mr. Charles shall never be forj gotten. And the finest example of I their faith and confidence in the As■ sedation is the $48,000.00 of new j business which was written by Mr. j Charles —.with their help — in the ! ten days he spent in these states. Thank you, Verhovay Brothers, for j your splendid display of true fraterj nalism and your faith and confidence in an organization that will ever be j your pride. Thank you too for the fine reception you tendered Field j Supervisor Elmer Charles. He shall j continue, as shall all of us, to serve I you well. This organization with your ' help and ours shall continue to grow ! to become the stately oak towering high above the others tasking in the golden rays of the sun, extending to all around it protection in death, protection in sickness, protection for the aged, and a warm, helping hand to all who may need it. National Auditor John Sabo, Vice-President Dr. Andrew Kovács and Director Mike Koros) . in Chicago on tournament business. visited the hospital two days after the crash. They were accompanied by Mr. Andrew Janovits of | Branch 164, Chicago. The doctors have informed Mrs. | Rettmann that it will be several months before Mr. Rettmann will be i well enough to return to his duties r '.at Verhovay. It is_ contemplated that j he should be moved to a Pittsburgh hospital after he is well enough for the trip home. Knowing Mr. Rett, mami as well as we do, he will not wait till he is ahle to stand on his feet to resume his work. He is the kind of man who will jump back into his work even during his eon- S vafescing period. Anyone wishing to send greetings to Mr. Rettmann should address the j greetings to the Home Office, 436 Fourth Avenue, Pittsburgh 19. Pa.. ] and the well wishes will be forwarded to him. Only recently Mr. Rettmann was appointed to the new organizing position of Field Manager. From October 1. when he officially took over his new position, to the day of his serious accident. Henry Rettmann ably administered the duties of this new office. Several new organizing districts were formed in that short time, namely, the Chicago District consisting of Branches 164, 342 and 503; the McKeesport District made up of Branches 92, 152, 226 and 395: the Akron District of Branch 91 which absorbed Branch 6 a month before; and the Southern Mining District created out of branches in Pocahontas, Gary, Thorpe, Beckley and Glen Daniel. Besides these several other districts have been contemplated and plans for these w-iil be continued. The temporary loss of the services ttf onr new field manager certainly is unfortunate. We pray to God to speed his recovery so that hp may soon return to his family and his Association. Hr The National Officers of the Association sincerely request all Tieid Supervisors, District Managers and Branch Managers to do their best to continue, the^-fine work which has been experienced since Field Manager Rettmann took over his position. We are convinced that the best greetings we could send to Mr. Rettmann would be hundreds of new membership applications. The Home Office would appreciate it if the Field Supervisors, District Managers and Branch Managers, together with the help of all branch officers and members, would begin to bombard, as it were, the Home Office with many new applications for membership. Let’s show* Henry Rettmann how much we appreciate him. Many new applications will encourage him no end. Let’s begin the avalanche today! For the sake of your children, buy and use Christmas Seals.
