Branch 76 SUMMER MEETING SCHEDULE Notice is given hereby to the mem­bers of Branch 76 that beginning with June, and through July and August, the regular monthly meet­ings will be held on the second Sat­urday ói each month, at 7 p.m. This new schedule was put into effect last year and met with the approval of the membership. All members are re­quested to attend the June meeting because the plans for the Verhovay Day Picnic, to be held in August in Metuchem, N. J., are to be settled on this occasion. The tickets for this out-The American Hungarian Civic Association of Trenton, New Jersey will award five scholarships this year to deserving students of Hungarian extraction. One scholarship will be given to a top ranking Hungarian boy or girl in each one of the four high schools in Trenton. The fifth will be awarded to the qualifying student manifesting interest in Technical-Industrial work and desiring to further his study at the Trenton Technical Institute. These scholarships are being awarded in memory of Albert B. Ari for his outstanding work in civic welfare promotion here as well as throughout the country. Branch 296 BENEFIT DINNER A SUCCESS The Ladies’ Auxiliary of Branch 296 held their annual dinner for the benefit of the Verhovay Handicapped Children’s and Disabled Aged Mem­bers Fund on February 18th. The La­dies’ Auxiliary is to be commended for their wholehearted ef­forts on behalf on the success of this enterprise. Again our ladies have proved that Fraternalism, to them, means a real challenge which they are always read}' to meet. $25, representing the proceeds of this af­fair, have been remitted to the Home Office for the Fund. We wish to thank the ladies for supporting this cause. We also extend our sincere ap­preciation to Mrs. Joseph Szalay who donated a beautiful fruit basket that helped increase the profits of the benefit dinner. ELMER CHARLES, Mgr. Pittsburgh Area Branches Join In Annual Picnic The joint picnic committee of branches 34, Pittsburgh, 152, East Pittsburgh, 71, Duquesne, and 226, McKeesport, held their first meeting this year on March 27th in East Pittsburgh. Chairman Paul Marton announced that, in accordance with the authorization given to him, he re­served the Heinz Grove picnic grounds for the picnic to be held jointly by the above branches on Sunday, June 25th. He also engaged Arpad Nagy and his orchestra for this event. Mr. Paul Marton of Br. 34 was re­elected Chairman of the Committee, Frank Debreceni of Branch 226 vice­­chairman, John Kucik of Br. 71 trea­surer, George Viszokay of Br. 226, secretary and John Demko, of Br. 34, and Emery Toth of Br. 152 audi­tors. The next meeting will be held in Duquesne. The joint picnic com­mittee wish to extend their sincere thanks to the East Pittsburgh Sing­ing Society for the free use of their hall and to Branch 152 for their hos­pitality. All members and friends of the Verhovay in the metropolitan area of Pittsburgh are cordially invited to attend our picnic at Heinz Grove on Sunday, June 25. PAUL MARTON, Chairman. J Announcement Of The Youngstown District Office All Youngstown members of the Verhovay are notified that office hours at the Youngstown District Office, 412 Wick Bldg., will be ob­served as follows: Wednesday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. On days when the office is closed, I may be reached at my home, 143 Halls Heights Ave., Youngstown, O., Phone 9-8937.
