Please note that no changes have been n\ade in the scheduling of the events and the original plan remains unaltered, to wit: the Tournament will start with the 5-Man and 5- Woman events on Friday night, May 26th, to be continued Saturday morning until the conclusion of this event. Then, later .on Saturday will follow the Two-Man and Individual events to be concluded on Sunday, May 28th. Please, disregard the information reversing the above order, appearing in the last edition of our Journal. COMMITTEES IN' ACTION One night during the Board of Directors’ meeting, the National Executive Bowling Tournament Committee held a plenary session in the Verhovay Building in Pittsburgh, Fa., where final details on arrangements were discussed and approval was put upon all the matters presented in the following. The Executive Committee shall meet" again in Youngstown at the Hotel Pick-Ohio on Sunday, April 16th, at 10:30 a.m. In the afternoon a meeting will be held with all the Youngstown officers and team captains. Arrangements for the Tournament will be made at this meeting and the necessary committees will be organized. The Youngstown Verhovay members to serve on these committees will be appointed at that time. BANQUET, DANCE TICKETS FREE ONLY FOR TOURNEY BOWLERS! Each member of each participating team will receive a free ticket to the Saturday night dance and to the dinner and dance on Sunday night. Managers of branches sponsoring bowling teams, who accompany their teams to the tournament, also shall receive a free ticket. But the number of free tickets allowable to any one team cannot exceed the number of seven. All others accompanying bowlers to the tournament must purchase tickets for either of these affairs. The price of a ticket for the Saturday night dance will be 75 .„cents, and to the dinner-dance on Sunday night, $2.50. Because no exceptions can be made to the above rule, all those planning to accompany bowlers to the National Tournament are requested to prepare for paying for their tickets. LIMITED NUMBER OF TICKETS FOR SALE TO LOCAL MEMBERS A limited number of dance tickets for Saturday, and dinner-dance tickets for Sunday night will be placed on sale to the Verhovay members in Youngstown, Ohio. The ticket? to the Saturday night dance shall sell at 75 cents, and for the Sunday night affair for 82.50 each. There will be no separate dance tickets offered for sale for Sunday night. An effort is being made to make available tickets at reduced price to clgldren who may accompany their parents to the Tournament. Due notice will be given if these efforts should meet with success. MEALS ON SATURDAY Arrangements are being made with the Hungarian Evangelical Reformed Chui’ch, 747 Mahoning Avenue, Youngstown," O., through the Rev. John Botty and his officers, for the serving of Hungarian meals at reasonable prices on Saturday to the bowlers and any guests who may accompany them. The Executive Committee wishes to stress the fact that these meals will be at the expense of the bowlers. There will be no free lunches provided for the bowlers on Saturday. ENTRIES BREAK ALL RECORDS An avalanche of application blanks has hit the Home Office during the last days of March. It is now established that there will be more teams participating in this tournament than attended the 1949 Tournament which, up to this time, had been the largest of all Verhovay tourneys. R. R. “Pop” Diliinger, Tournament Secretary, and John Sabo. National Auditor and Tournament Administra- * tor will arrange the howling schedules as soon as possible. Several copies of the schedule will be mailed to each team captain about four weeks prior to the start of the bowling tournament. Attention is called to the fact that the completed reservation cards must be mailed directly to the Hotel Pick-Ohio, Youngstown, Ohio. This does not mean that everyone will receive quarters at the Hotel Pick-Ohio. Due to the availability of only a limited number of rooms at this hotel, some of our bowlers and guests will have to be placed in other, nearby hotels. We would like to stress tfee importance of indicating on the reservation card the kind of room desired, the date of arriyal and the period of stay at the hotel. In.case a team should not have a sufficient number of reservation cards, a letter to the Reservation Manager, Hotel Pick-Ohio, Youngstown, Ohio, will be sufficient for reserving accomodations. This should be done no later than April 30th! THREE ORCHESTRAS TO PLAY The following orchestras have been hired by the National Executive Tournament Committee through its Youngstown representative, Mr. S. .1. Matasy, Attorney: The "Rendes Brothers” orchestra will play in the big ballroom on Saturday night from 8 to 12. The “Louis Sikora Orchestra” will play from 8 to 12 in the “Night Of Budapest Muiato,” directly underneath the big ballroom, on Saturday night. On Sunday from 5 to 8 o’clock the "Frank Orosz Orchestra” wifi playin the big ballroom. From 8 to 12 o'clock on Sunday they will play in the “Night of Budapest Mulató” and the “Louis Sikora Orchestra” will take ever the big ballroom on Sunday night from 8 to midnight. THE FINANCING CAMPAIGN Up to this date, the results of the financing campaign have been very poor. It is a most discouraging fact that only 40% of the teams participating in the tournament have requested a share in the financing campaign. Letters have been mailed to all team captains who have sent in applications to the Home Offkei reminding them once again of the necessity of their participation in this campaign. (This matter is frankly discussed in the “Official Comment” appearing on page 4 of this issue. Every bowler should read it! It is an important and frank statement of facts concerning each and every bowler!) We still have one month’s time until the conclusion of the financing campaign. Great things can be accomplished in a month if everyone is willing to do* his share. Not o-nly the size of the Tournament purse, but also THE FUTURE OF BOWLING IN THE VERHOVAY depends on the response of the bowlers to this final appeal!
