Here’s the information your national commilttee has been anx'ous to give you at the earliest possible moment. Believe it or not, but everything is ready (almost!) for the great event and now it is up to the bowlers to be there in time for the opening of the tournament and, then, to enjoy themselves as wholeheartedly as the good Verhovay people of Detroit want tp entertain them. So let’s start with the arrival of the bowlers in Detroit. For further information we refer the reader to the “Ferret Sez” column gving full information on the arrangements handled by the Detroit Tournament Committee of 100, headed by Vice-President Julius Macker, chairman, and Director Richard J. Phillips, Secretary, who, ably assisted by the officers of the Detroit branches and many volunteers, are making all preparations for a mammoth reception. In view of the Tournament starting early Saturday morning, it is suggested that all teams, with the exception of the few not participating in the Two Man and Individual events — arrive on Friday, May 27th, in the evening, in order that the bowlers may get sufficient rest »nd, thereby, enhance their chances for attaining winning scores. The Tournament Schedule and 7th floors of the Detroit Recreation Building, at 212 W. Lafayette, only two short blocks from the Hotel Fort Shelby, the tournament should progress at a brisk pace, leaving more than usual time for recreation, entertainment and v.siting. Banquet and Dance The Tournament Banquet and Dance will be held on Sunday evening, May 29th, in the Parish Hall of the Hungarian Reformed Church on West End Avenue, in Delray. Participants of the 6th Verhovay Tournament are the guests of the Detroit branches at this event and they will receive their complimentary t.ckets upon registering in Detroit. Here the Frank Brogley Memorial Trophies will be awarded to the true champions by actual scores, and the top cash prizes to the handicap champions. Tournament Secretary ‘Pop’ R. R. Diliinger with his staff of assistants will make every effort to complete as much as possible of the winners’ list for the banquet. Entertainment will be excellent, but brief, and there will be less speeches than ever in order that more time be left for the dance. Thousands of Verhovayans and others all over the country will be waiting for the outcome of the Grand Event climaxing the program and marking the conclusion of the Tournament Financing Campaign. This event will be one of the highlights of the program! For further details on the banquet and dance, read the Ferret’s column! What About The Prizes? This is one question that cannot be answered at this time. As every participant of the tournament knows, the size of the tournament purse depends on the ultimate outcome of the Financing Campaign which still is going strong all over the country, but especially in the tournament city. That much is certain: there will be more and better prizes. How much more and how much better depends chiefly on the number of tournament shares to be sold between now and the conclusion of the campaign. The Financing Campaign There still is time for every bowler and every bowling fan to make some contribution toward a larger tournament purse. The sale of shares is to continue in all branches, except in the Detroit area, until May 10th when the sales campaign must be closed. FINAL ACCOUNTS, INCLUDING ALL REMITTANCES AND RETURNS, MUST BE IN THE HANDS OF THE TOURNAMENT COMMITTEE AT THE HOME OFFICE NOT LATER THAN MAY 15th. In the Detroit area, on the other The complete schedule and time table of the Tournament, will reach the team captains before the end of the month. The tournament is scheduled to start with the Two Man and Individual Events on Saturday, May 28th, at 9 a.m., (Detroit Time!). Lausche, Governor of the State of Ohio, to the great family of Verhovayans. To District Manager Joseph M. The transaction was concluded with the Governor’s signature in Columbus, capital of the State of Ohio, in the presence of Joseph Szalay, President of Branch 14, and director Coloman Kolozsvary, member of the same branch. The Governor expressed his best wishes to the trio welcoming him into the rank and file membership of the Verhovay. All managers and keymen are urged to adhere to this schedule. The tournament purse is growing day by day, thanks mainly to the efforts of those managers who are rendering splendid cooperation. In order that our keymen and their helpers may get an idea of what can be accomplished, we mention as the star performer in this campaign Mr. Daniel Matto, Sr., Manager of the small branch in Star Junction, Pa., who up to this writing has paid for $180 worth of shares. Star Junction Branch 16 has 77 members! Or we should mention George Jávor, Manager of Branch 17, Lorain, O., —one of the large branches — who paid for $150 worth of shares. Both are continuing in their efforts as are many others. Tournament Roll Call The following is the list of the teams entered in the 6th Verhovay National Bowling Tournament.
