On behalf of those unfortunate Juvenile members of the Verhovay who are to benefit from this Fund, we thank each and every donor for his, or her, generous contribution to this cause. The listings of donations will be continued in the March 2nd edition of the Journal. The readers’ attention again is called to the fact that the above listing contains only donations received up to and including February 7th, 1949. All donations received after that date will be acknowledged in the next edition of the Journal. _________I_______ Too many people think opportunity is a chance to get money without earning it. Several of the 323 return envelopes received up to February -7th, 1949, by the Home Office, contained not only contributions, but also written messages that are a clear indication of our fellow-members’ generous response to the 1949 Verhovay Charity Day Appeal. They reveal that the cause of our crippled juvenile members touches the hearts of all who have an understanding for the principles and purposes of fraternalism. ¥ * ¥ “Dear Brothers: Received your letter requesting a contribution on behalf of the crippled children. Enclosed I am sending you one dollar. I wish I could send more, but right now this is all I can afford. Mrs. Anna Meyer, member, Milwaukee, Wis.” ¥ * ¥ “Dear Gentlemen and Fellow-Members: Thank you for your beautiful and deeply moving letter that made me cry so hard that I couldn’t say a word. My husband asked me what happened, but I couldn’t answer, for so deeply was I affected by the sorrow of parents ... I write my letter with tears, for I have many reasons to weep. Twice in 1948 I was in the hospital and I am still very ill, so that I will not be per- , mitted to work six months. How'often I wonder what my good husband must think, but he never complains; the poor man bears our troubles quietly. I deeply regret that we can help only so little, but what we give, we give gladly, from our hearts. May God be with your and with us. We remain faithfully until the end, your fellow-members, Mr. and Mrs. Kletusz Horvath, Northampton, Pa.” * * * “Received your letter and I’ll gladly do what I can to help. Enclosed 1 am sending you $5.00 and may God bless you for your charitableness and your noble aims. With brotherly regards to all of you, Nicholas F. Kovács, Berwück, Pa.” * * * ‘ Dear President Bencze and Secretary Revesz: I received your appeal on behalf of the crippled juvenile members and I am sending you two dollars. I regret that we couldn’t do more, but both of us are old and live on Old Age pension, but it would have been impossible for us not to help these poor little children. I only wish we could do more. May God help these little children. Fraternaly, Frank and Martha Sipos Scranton, Pa.” ¥ * ¥ “Gentlemen and Fellow- Members: Here is a dollar for the purpose indicated in your letter. If every member were to contribute a dollar we would raise not 12,000 but 60,000 dollars. László Barota, Perryopolis, Pa. * * * “Dear Officers and Fellow- Members: I am enclosing my small donation for the crippled children. I deeply regret that I cannot send more than a dollar, but my husband has been sick for two years and can’t work anymore. So please accept kindly our modest contribution. Fraternally, Mrs. John Hogay, Smock, Pa.”
