Including the above 50 volunteer contestants have joined the branch-managers and local organizers in this great campaign. With a great force of enthusiastic Verhovayans like this, the Sixtieth Anniversary Gold Ring Contest cannnot fail. LEADING CONTESTANTS Those having produced $7,000 (the quota for 3 months), or more, are listed at this time. It must be pointed out, however, that the leaders’ list shows great improvement, too. 26 constants had gained the distinction of being mentioned in this list, 9 more than at the end of the last month, 8 more than at the end of the corresponding period of the last contest. There is, however, another highly significant difference in performance to be noted. At the end of the third month of the last campaign, 5 were listed as having produced exactly $7.000, while now we have only two in this category the others having written more than this amount. The same difference appears in the upper brackets, for the highest amount recorded at this point in the last Contest was $14,500, while now it is $27,300! Thus the list of leading contestants reflects a remarkably improved performance on .part of .every contestant! 1. 369. Alliance, O. John Korosfoy $27,300 (23 members) 2. 362. Dayton, O. Branch 14, the third largest branch of the Verhovay F. I. Association, 1300 strong, is managed by Joseph M. Toth, lull-time local organizer, since January, 1946. He' was born at Gombos, Abauj county, Hungary, on November 22, 1892. At the age of 14, in 1906, he came to the United States and married the former Jolán Stofcso in 1914. After a happy marriage of 20 years, she passed on in 1934, leaving two sons, Eugene, 38, and Joseph, 30, both of whom served with distinction in World War II. Joseph was a corporal and Eugene, who holds the Purple Heart for shrapnel-wounds received in action, a sergeant. Both Eugene and Joseph are married. Manager Joseph Toth is well known in the Hungarian religious and social circles of Cleveland and held various offices in several of Cleveland’s many American Hungarian societies. He joined the Verhovay in 1936 at branch 14 and was elected manager following the sudden death of Albert Karl, former manager of Branch 14. Branch 14, one of the oldest branches of the Association, with a huge Verhovay Home of its own, operating in Cleveland, the sixth largest city in the United States, with a Hungarian population that ranks second .in the country, has always played a leading role in Verhovay affairs. A historic past, numerical superiority, the ownership of an excellent Home, and advantageous location favor the further progress of Branch 14, and the nearly sixty new members secured since Mr. Toth assumed management, indicate that he is determined to make the most of these opportunities. With the cooperation of his fellow-members Mr. Toth should succeed in leading this branch to a brilliant future. CONTEST OF CITIES 1. DETROIT, MICH. Ycur OoSiars Worth—100 Cents Plus......ff Official Announcement A new publication of the Verhovay F. I. Association has just left the press and appropriate supplies of copies are being mailed to our branch-managers and organizers. The title of the pocket-size booklet is: “Your Dollar’s Worth—100 cents PLUS . . ?” It is a brief, compact, readable statement pertaining to the value of your dollar when invested in the Verhovay Fraternal Insurance Association. Describing the Verhovay and discussing the questions usually asked by those approached with an invitation to join our organization, it is a “door-opener” for branch-managers and organizers engaged in the task of securing hew members. By the use of this booklet you will be able to prove that your dollar is worth much more than 100 cents when invested in the Verhovay. This booKiet Ss of interest not only to our branch-officials but the membership, too. You will want to know why and how the Verhovay can increase the value priced insurance protection PLUS various other benefits. Therefore, we urge our fellow-members to ask their branch-manager, or to write to the Home Office for a copy. Of course, the booklet is intended to serve as a means to introduce the Verhovay to those who are not yet members of our organization. It has been published at this time when the Sixtieth Anniversary Gold Ring Membership Contest is being conducted, in order to help our contestants in presenting the advantages afforded to the members of the Verhovay. We urge our contestants, therefore, to carry a few copies when going out to meet prospects, presenting them with a copy in order to better acquaint them with the Association, The attention of our contestants is called to the space provided at the end of the booklet, for their signatures, as the text has been composed as your personal message to your prospects. Those who are induced to read it, will find a more complete description of all the facts pertaining to the Verhovay, than could be given in personal conversation. Thus, this booklet will be a great sales-help to our branch-managers, organizers and contestants, provided they, too, read the story of the Verhovay, as presented in this publication.
