KOHUT Branch 430 Homestead, Pennsylvania Sure, that’s the way to do it, let’s go out and bowl. Let’s organize a bowling team and fill out that application blank for the National Verhovay Bowling Congress. That’s what I say. Bowling teams are mushrooming forth here and there over all the country. Verjiovay branches appear to be extremely fertile for these bowling growths, and they should continue to be, too. We all need some form of recreation and entertainment and the one easiest to obtain and costing the least amount of money is BOWLING. Yes, BOWLING. Once or twice a week is the way to start, and gradually build up to three or four bowling matches each week. You soon find yourself looking forward to these days, these days when you meet with the rest of the croud and “roll 'er down the alley.” A great sport c,nd a lot of fun. At the last Directors’ meeting in Pittsburgh, in September, the Board authorized Directors Ari, Brogley and Dr. Prince to draw up tentative rules and regulations for a National Verhovay Bowling Congress to go into active competition in January, 1942. This Congress would have eliminations and final prizes awcrded in Pittsburgh in March of 1942. This is really a chance for those who want to enjoy a great sport as well as try for prizes and advancements. Little is required of the person except that he or she be a member in good standing and be able to bowl. Of course, those who bowl a better game stand a better chance of traveling to Pittsburgh for he finals, with all expenses paid and a great time in store for them when they get to Pittsburgh. If you haven’t done much on this as yet, lohy not get started on it at once? Send in your entry blank and specify thereon your willingness to participate in the National Verhovay Bowling Congress. Why not join the ranks now... not later, but NOW? Five make up a team, so why not round up five or more and get in a few practice licks? It’ll do you good and also enable you to make reservations for a trip to Pittsburgh. Now is the time to act. LET’S GO—LET’S BOWL! Let that be our battle cry. Customer: By a little mark to show which corner the meat’s in! The Truth The house agent had just informed the prospective tenant that the owner would allow no children, phonographs, radio sets, or dogs in his apartments. “Well,” said the house hunter, “we haven’t any of those things, but I want to play fair with the landlord. I guess you’d better tell him my fountain pen squeaks a bit.”
