Csonka (Lane Service) 165 As the results indicate, Verhovay Branch 36 did lose out on the last Sunday of bowling, due to the good bowling of our opponents, Yale Inn, which proved too much fou our team, but we managed to take a lot of the prize money from the Bowling League. This marks our third year of having a Verhovay Bowling League, and next year promises to be a more successful one, with the probable expansion to a 10 team league and more prize money in our kitty. The Detroit Branch 36 boys journeyed to Chicago on Saturday, April 26th, to engage the Chicago Branch 164 Verhovays in a bowling match, and the Detroiters were victors by a total of 261 pins. After dancing to the wee hours of the morning with the gals of Chicago, the trip was pronounced a total success. We of Branch 36 wish to thank the members of Branch 164 for their true Verhovay fraternalism and hospitality. And thus winds up the most successful season of the Verhovay Bowling League. NEW YORK BRANCH 394 DEFEATS SECOND GENERATIONS New York defeated the Second Hungarian Generation by a total of 421 pins in a three game match series with a six men team, on April 28th at the Thums Alleys, 31st Street and Broadway, New York City. Joe Sharkozy, president of New York Branch 394, is a member of the farm team, and in making his first appearance in last week’s match game, tossed in good games of 150, 133 and 169, a total of 452 pins for a three game series. He is a promising star bowler for the coming season of the 1941—42 Verhovay League. Vaught and Emody also played well for the winners, and Kadi and Boszilkov shoot well for the losers. The Second Generation of the American Hungarian Junior Society is one of the friendliest group of people to meet. They took this loss in a good spirit, and are looking forward to a return match in the near future.
