Mr. John Szalanczy, Pres­idents of the 55th Jubilee Celebration and Member­ship prive Committee in the Chicago District, welcomed the members representing the following branches: 37 of Burnside; 55 of Hammond; 96 of'Chicago; 127 of Joliet; 130 of East Chicago; 138 of Gary; 164 of Chicago; 229 of Indiana Harbor; 275 of Mil­waukee; 342 of Chicago; 371 of Gary; 428 of Milwaukee; 475 of Milwaukee; and 503 of Chicago. : After the minutes of the previous meeting were read, accepted and certified, a let­ter from Branch 132 in So. Bend, Indiana was read, in which they accused the Of­ficers and Committee in charge of the 55th Jubilee Celebration and Membership Drive in. the Chicago Dis­trict of disregarding them at our meetings, which state­ment is false, for both So. Bend Branches 132 and 434 were invited to every one of the Chicago District meet­ings. Mr. Nyisztor, President of. Branch 130, related the first District meeting was held in East Chicago, home of Branch 130 when South Bend was represented and nothing was said or done at the meeting to give South Bend the impression they were being left out of the District’s plans. On the contrary, they seemed to agree with all motions and discussions at the meeting. Mr. Peleskey, of Gary Branch 138, made a motion that, al­though it was very painful to him and his fellow mem­bers that South Bend refuses to co-operate and show the fraternalism that our or­ganization advocates, we dis­regard their letter and de­cision altogether and con­tinue with our plans as ori­ginally outlined. Mr. Peles­­key’s motion was unani­mously agreed to. For the information of members of South Bend Branches 132 and 434: Those who wish to participate in the Chicago District Membership Drive and take advantage of the generous prizes may do so by contacting either one of the two secretaries, Mrs. Louis Sabo, 11934 Lowe Ave, i Chicago, Illinois, or Mr. Er- J nest Kunstadt, 3245 Lake­­wood Ave, Chicago, Illinois. The next letter to* be read, changed the atmosphere of the meeting and revived the true brotherly feeling to­wards one another, for, from a greater distance than betwen Chicago and South Bend, came words of en­couragement and support. Dr. Joseph Prince, Director of Dayton, Ohio and Joseph Bumbulucz, District Organ­izer reported that the fol­lowing members have en­tered the Chicago District Membership Drive: Irene Po­­liczan; Anna Murin; Joseph Czeiszperger; George Kuri­­tar; George Soproni; Adam Krisko; Gabor Jerne; And­rew Hankoczy, Stephen Hal­ler and Alexander Kocsmar, of Dayton, Ohio; Mrs. George Kertesz of Filbert, West Vir­ginia; Mrs. Andrew Dobos and Mrs. John Szabó, of Pocahontas, Virginia. Here’s hoping that each and every one of them will be a win­ner. The day of days is draw­ing near, June 22nd, when the Chicago District will ce­lebrate the 55th Jubilee of our Association — 55 years of achievements and ac­complishments that every member can be proud of. The committee, planning this gala program, earnestly seeks your cooperation in the name of the frater­nalism for which the Ver­hovay Fraternal Insurance Association stands, in order to make this VERHOVAY DAY of distinction in the annals of the history of our organization. Each branch represented at our last meeting was as­signed to their respective duties for the Jubilee Ce­lebration. Members of Branch 37 and 96 are in charge of sel­ling and collecting admission tickets at the entrance of the grounds. Women members of Branch 37 and 96 will take over the duties of the kitchen, preparing and serv­ing plate lunches. Women members of In­diana Harbor Branch 229 will prepare and serve Laczi Pecsenye. East Chicago Branch 130, under the leadership of Mr. Thomas Kochis, will be in charge of the bingo games. Chicago Branches 164 and 503 will be in charge of sel­ling refreshment tickets. Gary Branches 138 and 371 will sell ice cream and soda pop. Milwaukee branches will take charge of the "Hooligan Booth.” Two members "from each branch will assist at the bar. Besides these assignments, branch secretaries are re­quested to have fifteen able and willing members avail­able for any assistance that will be necessary at the pic­nic. The names of these fifteen members should be handed in at the next district meet­ing to either of the two sec­retaries. The deadline for handing in material for publication in the Jubilee Album has been postponed to May 30th, which gives you a little more time to solicit names and advertisements. All business being taken care of for the present, Mr. John Szalanczy adjourned the meeting until May 25th, which will be held in Burn­side. Fraternally, Mrs. Louis Sabo District Secretary.--------:o:--------­FIRST ANNUAL VICTORY DANCE OF THE VERHOVAY TRI-STATE BOWLING LEAGUE TO BE HELD IN NEW YORK The first Annual Victory Dance will be held in honor of the champion bowli ng team of the Verhovay Tri- State Bowling League. This Victory Dance will be held on Saturday, May 24th, at 8:00 P. M., in the Verhovay Home at 231 East 77th St. in New York, with music by one of New York’s most po­pular orchestras. We are hereby extending our invitation to all other branches in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania to attend. The young men of this league are working hard to make this dance a success, and feel confident that all who attend will have a pleasant time.
