SPECIAL SPORTS NOTICE At the Directors’ Meeting held from March 17 to March 22, 1941, the following decisions was made: that the Verhovay Fraternal Insurance Association is an organization whose primary purpose is to give life insurance protection, and whose secondary purpose is to sponsor social and sports activities when said activities justify the primary purpose; that, therefore, the following rules and conditions relative to social and sports activities have been in effect since March 19, 1941, and that all such rules and conditions previously made are canceled. 1. In every city where there is more than one branch, the branches must band together and form a joint committee for the purpose of directing and carrying out the social and sports activities of said branches. 2. Only the petition of such joint committee can be taken into consideration by the Home Office, and such petition must have the endorsement and recommendation of the director and district organizer of the district in which petitioning committee is located. 3. In rendering social and sports assistance, such assistance is considered and acted upon only on grounds of actual increase in membership of petitioning branch or branches, and in event plea is successful, the director from the district concerned must be notified accordingly. 4. The treasurer of the committee directing joint activities must be an officer of one of the branches concerned and must be under bond. 5. In issuing this, the actual increase in membership is to be taken into consideration, as well as the membership of the branch at the close of the previous year, and in the event the membership shown at the time the application is made is less than the membership a,t the close of the previous year, then the membership shown at the time the application is made shall be taken into consideration. 9. The above resolution of the Board of Directors relates to the coming seasons. 10. The motions of the joint committees of the branches, relative to sports and social activities to be conducted during the comingwinter, are to be sent in before September 1, 1941 to the Home Office, while those relative to the summer of 1942 are to be submitted before March 1, 1942, so that the Board of Directors will be enabled to carry out re solutions relative to the above on the basis of the motions received at the September as well as the March meetings of the Board.--------------O-------------SPORT FLASHES FROM BRANCH 36 Detroit, Michigan It looks as if my sugges tion for a Verhovay Bowling Congress has not been getting results, as only a few teams have shown interest It may be a good idea to drop this unless we have more attention from other Verhovay branches. Let’s form a Verhovay Bowling Congress and have our National Tournament at Pittsburgh this year. It is still not too late to get together and put this idea across. Come on! Let’s hear from all you Verhovay bowling teams and decide a Verhovay National Bowling Champion for 1940. The Detroit Verhovay Branch 36 Bowling Team is all set to shoot the works in the remaining 3 games left to play in the Verhovay Bowling League. We are holding 2d place, and after bowling the best single game of the Verhovay League, which was bowled at West End Recreation on Sunday, March 30th, againsi Club 440, the results oi the. high game are as follows: Verhovay Branch 36 Mike Szopo_______167 Zoltán Vincent ___197 Ken Toth ........ .207 Frank Szopko_____210 Oscar Petoskey .......244 Total Pins...............1025 This game puts us in leadership of the team single game event, and we hope it stays for the rest of the season. We shall bowl the. Chicago Verhovay Branch 164 Boiuling Team in Chicago on Saturday, April 26th. We know we are in for a tough battle, but we promise everybody that Verhovay will win! Which one? For bets see Mr. Ernest Lada. : It looks as though the Detroit Verhovay bowlers will be bowling for good old U S. A., as already one. has gone and four more have received their questionnaires. So don’t be surprised, boys, if in the near future you hear the “Bugle Call Rag.” Don’t forget, captains Of various Verhovay bowling teams, to write to me on my suggestion for the Verhovay Bowling Congress. Let’s put it over, or it will be doomed for another year. Fraternally yours in sports, FRANK A. SZOPKO Publicity Agent. 8556 Vanderbilt Avenue Detroit, Michigan.--------------O--------------BRANCH 170 TO HOLD DANCE Medina.
