If you don’t want Double Indemnity Insurance you don’t ev,en have to say so. Just postpone adding our Double Indemnity clause to your membership certificate. First of all, let me say that I was very deeply touched by the unexpected death of our beloved Verhovay member, Edward S, Horvath. I never saw him, but I know him very well through his fine articles — those very original, comic and brave satires about his “T.B. germs.*’ I don’t think that there are many of us would feel like joking about our illness but Ed was a real trouper, if there ever was one. I know that everyone will miss him. He will be sadly, missed very sadly indeed and long remembered by us all. I am glad that he had time to write his last article. It ought to be a treasure for everyone’s scibpbook. “Mystricky” sure was an “Xlent” article, I’d say. Whoever wrote that sure had a brainstorm! It was snazzy! Do you follow Stephen Szabo’s and William C. Kohut’s articles? Good, aren’t they? What da’ ya’ mean, Phantom, that no one but I saw your column? If I’m not mistaken, several of our columnists commented on your column. “I’m snubbin’ you, tho’ because you promised me a letter, but to date I haven’t received any letters from the vicinity of West Virginia. I’ve received letters from just about every State so far, except West Virginia and Virginia. How are your underpins by now, J.J. Horvath? Can you walk now? How did you like our Radio Station KDKA? If you females from Cleveland saw as many good lookin’ male announcers as I did up there, then “you’ve got somethin’ there.” Aren’t they handsome, gals? No, it isn’t what you implied, Joseph J. Horvath — when cupid “Mrs” (misses, maybe) me I’ll let you know with a bang! I believe Charley Young was about the first amateur Winchell for our Verhovay Journal. I’m glad to see you back, Charley. I, for one, missed your “scoops.” Miss Ann V. Biro sent me a lovely gift. (Ann is a native Clevelander but is now living in New York.) I guess that she sent me the two “Big Apple” pins to wear when I ck> that great “Big Apple” dance. I did send Ann a letter thanking her for her thoughtfulness, but again I’ll say, “Thanks a Million” and “Once in a While”, “Please Keep me in your Dreams” and “When you get that Old Feelin”, please “Remember Me” and, look me up “Some of These Days.” Something tells me that our Buckeye State friends enjoyed their visit to the Keystone State. I think that J. J. Horvath likes the Pennsylvania girls. (Shhh!) Until the next time, stand by everyone. I’ll be back with a flash, and with more hash. Yours, Miss “Snooper” Vestrocy ■-----o-----DEARBORN, MICH. BRANCH 429 Minutes of December Meeting The December meeting was called to order by the President, William G. Cseh. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. This being the final meeting of the year, the important business was taken care of first, which were the elections. After the regular nominations, seconding of nominations and ballotting were taken care of, the following elections resulted: for President, Steve Horvath, Jr.; for Vice-President, Mr. Joseph Greenwald; for Secretary-Treasurer, Mrs. Jolán Lucas; for Recording Secretary, Miss Mary Horvath; a suggestion was made by Mrs. Lucas that we have two Comptrollers instead of one, as it would aid the Secretary in collecting dues, so Mary Rakoczy and Mrs. Mary Horvath, Sr. were elected Comptrollers; Auditors, William G. Cseh and Cecelia Herman; Publicity Agent, Jolán Lucas; another suggestion made by Mrs. Lucas was made to the effect that we elect an Entertainment Chairman and Vice- Chairman to take full charge of all entertainment and social activities, and the result of the elections were Elvira László and Jeannette Horvath. Joseph László, Jr. was appointed athletic director for the boys, with the understanding that he would not be responsible for the mislaid basketball suits. The President-elect Steve Horvath, Jr. said he would be responsible for collecting these suits and putting them in good shape. The girl’s athletic director will be Elvira László for the coming year. These two directors will also report sports news to the Verhovay Journal. The Sick Visitors will be members of the László Family, Mr. Jack Bores and Mrs. Mary Horvath. This concluded the elections for the year of 1938. The Treasurer made a report of the treasury balance as of December 1, which was $26.29. This balance being so small, suggestions were made to make it large with parties until a large enough sum has been raised to have an Anniversary Dance some time in January or Februry. The Entertainment Committee will take charge of these activities. Regarding the basketball suits which were given in charge of Adolph Kuscar in 1935, arrangements were being made to collect these suits, put them in order and have a basketball team for this season, if possible. The Girls’ Bowling Team challenged the Boys’ Bowling Team to a game in the early part of the New Year, with the Boys giving each Girl a handicap of 50 points per game. The challenge was accepted by the boys, with a party at a White Tower Restaurant paid by the losers. With the conclusion of these matters, a motion was made that the meeting be adjourned.
