The Mounted Artillery monument in Palota tér (and its reverse side) horses, harnessed together in pairs, pulled a field-piece. Behind this life-size and true-to-life composition bursting with energy was a stone wall with a relief on its back featuring a row of emplaced cannons. The following inscription could be read below: Hősi halált halt magyar tüzérek emlékére. (In memory of Hungary’s artillerymen who died the death of heroes.) Carved into the ends of the background wall were the escutcheons of all the cities where artillery forces had been garrisoned before 1918.
