Festetich Palace, entrance hall

The Festetich Palace (Nádor u. 9) was built by Mihály Pollack between 1818-1826 opposite the Marczibányi Palace, on the other corner of Zrínyi utca. Despite its rather disadvantageous location, Pollack managed to increase the positive aspects of this multi-storey building by diagonally severing the corner, thus creating a third smaller facade. It was here he started the elegant and impressive progression of rooms which leads from the entrance hall to the circular ante-room enhanced with Josef Klieber’s (1773-1850) allegorical statues; then follows the staircase leading upstairs and begin37
