Bodor Ferenc: Coffee-Houses - Our Budapest (Budapest, 1992)
Derűs (sünny) On the confines of Rákospalota village mercilessly doomed to be demolished, the neon letters of the Derűs snack-bar shine bright and cheerful, true to its name, on warm sunny afternoons. At a glance it appears to have been village inn in the past, with a bewhiskered owner and pretzels to go with the beer on draught. The walls dream of wedding feasts and sundry associations. Lamp brackets curve in from the walls like drooping garden flowers, there are barricades of beer- crates everywhere. Every conceivable audio source is turned on, the din gives Samantha Fox's voluptious back, resplendent on the wall, the shivers. The dead light-bulbs of the chandelier-spider about to fall off the ceiling stare fixedly at the customers. Everyone is cheerful in the Derűs. 20 SZŐCS ÁRON CITCA, XV. 62
