It may well be a plot. The Akadémia café functions as a nostalgia-club in the vicinity of the former Ludovika Military Academy. The sign is suspiciously antiquated. A waitress with a wry smile steps up onto a platform, in a prettily amateurish sign-painter style. Inside, the bleakness of Ferencváros, tips for the football pool, Planned Preventive Maintenance-standard details. The window-display consists of a Central European palm-house fringed with bubbling light-bulbs.
