Devotional column in Péceli út of a man who had a family. The father lived to see the liberation of the camp. Pope Paul VI beatified Kolbe in 1971 Pope John Paul II canonised the martyr priest in 1982. The Polish soldiers who came as refugees to Hungary were formally interned, but had almost complete freedom of movement. In 1941 these soldiers erect­ed a devotional column on the plot which is present­ly Péceli út 228 in Rákoscsaba, District XVII. Almost three metres high, the column has the following inscription on its pedestal: Interned Polish soldiers / to the Hungarians / 1941. Standing on a simple ped­iment, the plain limestone column has a niche with a picture of the Madonna. The niche has a cast iron cross at the top, and a small crescent moon at the bottom. The Church of the Holy Spirit is situated in Mária- remete út in District 11. Built in Modern style to designs by Jenő Kismarty-Lechner, it was consecrat­ed on 23 January 1942.
