The latter, built in 1917, was first used as a Military TB Sanatorium and was later turned into an Extrapulmonar TB Centre. It changed profile in 1975. The rehabilitation of less serious handicapped patients is carried out here. Their orthopaedic operating theatre is one of the best equipped in the country. They carry out hip prosthesis implants, amputations and more sophisticated spine operations. Their central gym hall is specially adapted for handicapped patients. Well trained therapists work to help patients return to normal life, teaching them to use prostheses, wheelchairs and even escalators.
