The tomb of Károly Kisfaludy is one of the oldest MONUMENTS OF THE CEMETERY jós Tátray and sculptor Ede Kallós, is a remarkable speci­men of sepulchral sculpture from the turn of the century. The first democratically elected prime minister of the new Hungarian Republic József Antall was laid to rest in the middle of Section 28; a statue by Miklós Melocco is to be placed over his grave. The Carraran marble tombstone of the romantic poet Károly Kisfaludy is at the corner of the next section num­bered 29. The visitor can see a statue by Ede Kallós over the grave of the writer and politician Miksa Falk; there are other academicians buried next to him: Gergely Czuczor, poet and linguist, and Antal Reguly, linguist and ethnog­rapher. This is where a legendary actor of the last century Gábor Egressy and his contemporary, the poet János Ga­ray, the creator of the tail-tale character János Háry, are buried. Ferenc Erkel, composer, conductor and pianist, lies in a grave under a tombstone ornamented with a relief by Ede Kallós (Erkel’s sons, also famous musicians, are al­so interred in this cemetery). On one side of this grave, there is the tomb of General György Klapka of the revo­lutionary army of 1848-49 under a statue by József Róna, and on its other side the historiographer and politician Dániel Irányi is buried under a monument by Gyula Do- náth and Ede Kallós. Also by Ede Kallós is the monumen­tal tombstone of Sándor Kozma, Hungary’s first attorney general. The mausoleum with the mortal remains of Lajos Kos­suth is surrounded by the burial ground of the soldiers of the revolutionary army of 1848-49; the monument was 21
