■ Competitive design by Lipót Baumhom tor a synagogue in Lipótváros, 1899 in stark contrast with the spontaneous, unorganised way in which Terézváros came into being. What emerged around the Quay Market (Roosevelt tér) and the Market Square (Erzsébet tér) was the commercial, administrative and bank­ing centre of Pest-Lipótváros.
