The busy Nagyvárad tér was appointed as the site where the Theoretical Block of Budapest's prestigious, old institution of medical training was to be built.

The building was raised by contractors Governmental Building Co. (ÁÉV) No. 21 to plans made by János Magyar, Gedeon Gerlóczy, Ernő Südi and László Wagner in 1975-77Completed by 1978, the building originally accommodated eight university institutes (Microbiology, Patho-Physiology, Pharmacology, Medical Biology, Public Health, Marxism-Leninism, Health Management, and Foreign Languages).
