The St. Ladislas Parish Church, 1897 Szent László tér, District X "Hail gracious St. Ladislas, sweet patron of> Hungary!" (Anonymous source on St. Ladislas, after 1458. The Peer Codex, early 16th century) The history of the church's construction began in 1892. Ödön Lechner's (1848-1914) "Byzantine" design with a Greek-cross layout was deemed "unusual”, unbecoming for a Roman Catholic church. The design provided for a central dome and four semi-domes, which was meant to be supported by an iron and concrete structure, a pioneering method at the time in Europe.
