Horváth M. Ferenc: Vác, Magyarország kincsestára (Vác, 2016)

Az emlékmű megsérült a II. világháború időszakában, és a kommunista hatalomátvétel utáni időszakban, 1951-ben új, már nem központi helyen helyezték el. A szobor főalakját a Fehérek templomának oldalára erősítették, a hősi halottak névsorát feltüntető emléktábla fölé, az épen maradt oroszlánszobrot pedig a Damjanich téren állították fel.

Fördős Attila közel másfél évtizedes „küzdelme” után, polgármesterségének idején állították fel az emlékművet újra a főtéren. Az emlékmű hiányzó részeit újraöntötték, újbóli felavatására 2015-ben került sor a köztársasági elnök jelenlétében.

The memorial was damaged in WWII. and it was relocated to a non-central location after the period of the communist take-over. The statue's main figure was installed on the wall of the Church of the White Monks, above the plaque displaying name of the heroes. The intact statue of a lion was exhibited on Damjanich square.

During his time as mayor, after a decade and a half-long fight, Attila Fördős had the memorial relocated to the main square. Missing parts were re-cast and the memorial was newly dedicated in the presence of the President in 2015.

Das Denkmal wurde im Zweiten Weltkrieg und während der kommunistischen Herrschaft beschädigt und wurde nicht mehr an der ursprünglichen Stelle aufgestellt. Im Jahre 1951 wurde die Hauptfigur des Denkmals an der Seite der Kirche der Weifen oberhalb der Gedenktafel angebracht, die unversehrte Löwenstatue fand ihren Platz am Damjanich-Platz.

Nach einem eineinhalb Jahrzehnte lang andauerndem „Kampf” lief Attila Fördős während seiner Zeit als Bürgermeister das Denkmal wieder am Hauptplatz aufstellen. Die fehlenden Teile des Denkmals wurden neu gegossen, die Neueinweihung fand 2015 in Gegenwart des Staatspräsidenten statt.

Pamätnik utrpel skody pocas druhej svetovej vojny a v obdobi komunizmu, v roku 1951 bol premiestneny na iné, odíahlé miesto. Hlavnú postavu sochy pripevnili na bök kostola Bielych nad památnú tabuiu s menami padlych hrdinov, sochu leva, ktorá zostala neposkodená postavili na Damjanichovom námestí.

Pomník bol znovu postaveny na hlavnom námestí po viac ako 15 rocnom „boji" Attilu Fördősa, v období ked' bol primátorom mesta. Chybajúce casti pamätnika boli znova odliate a k opátovnému odhaleniu doslo v roku 2015, za prítomnosti prezidenta Madárska.
