A Máltai Szeretetkórház The Maltese Charity Hospital Das Malteser-Krankenhaus Maltézska charitatívna nemocnica Construction of the baroque building of the Brothers Hospitallers of Saint John of God was originally started by Bishop Frigyes M. Althann to host the divinity school in 1732. The Brothers Hospitallers transformed it into their headquarters in 1785 and operated a hospital and a pharmacy there. The latter - Pharmacy to the Pomegranate - was the second oldest one in the country. The chapel dedicated to St. Charles Borromeo - used by the Greek Catholic congregation today - is marked by a small bell-tower; a ridge turret. It had been a general hospital until 1927 later it became a mental asylum. In 1947 it was united with the town hospital, and after the nationalisation in 1949, it became the district-town hospital. Following the construction of the new town hospital in 1970, two wards started operating here. Since 1995, it has been the after-care hospital of the Maltese Charity Service. A főtéri irgalmas rendi barokk épületet eredetileg papi szeminárium céljára építtette 1732-tól Althann M. Frigyes püspök. Az 1763-ban letelepített irgalmas rendiek 1785-ben alakíttatták át székházukká, és működtettek itt kórházat és gyógyszertárat. Ez utóbbi az ország második legrégibb, a Gránátalmához címzett patikája volt. A Borromei Szent Károly tiszteletére felszentelt kápolnát - amit ma a görög katolikus hívek használnak - egy kis harangtorony, huszártorony jelzi a tetőn. 1927-ig általános kórházaként működött, majd a gyengeelméjűek intézete lett. 1947-ben egyesült a városi kórházzal, majd az 1949. évi államosítás után ez lett a járási-városi kórház. 1970-től - az új városi kórház megépítését követően - két osztály működött itt. 1995-től a Máltai Szeretetszolgálat utókezelő kórháza.
