1896-ban alakult meg a Váci Múzeum Egyesület, mely fő céljának tekintette, hogy összegyűjtse a Vácra vonatkozó tárgyi emlékeket és egyéb dokumentumokat, és azt a nagyközönségnek be is mutassa. Állandó múzeumépülettel csak 1931-től rendelkezett az egyesület, és a Papnevelde (ma Múzeum) utcában nyitották meg állandó kiállításukat. 2003-ban új épületbe költözött a Tragor Ignác Múzeum, melynek kiállítóhelyei a város különböző pontjain találhatók. 2013-tól Vác Város Önkormányzata a területi múzeum fenntartója. Gyűjtőterülete Vácon kívül 38 településre terjed ki. Feladatköre szerint gyűjt helytörténeti, néprajzi, képzőművészeti és régészeti emlékeket.

The Museum Association ofVác was founded in 1896, with the main aim of collecting Vác related artifacts and other documents and introducing them to the general public. The Association has only had a permanent museum building since 1931, and the permanent exhibition was opened in Papnevelde (today Múzeum) Street. In 2003, the Ignác Tragor Museum moved in to a new building, with exhibition venues at different spots of the town. Since 2013, the Municipality ofVác has been the maintainer of the regional museum with an area of collecting including Vác and 38 settlements. Its responsibility is to collect relics of local history, ethnography, fine arts and archaeology.

Im Jahre 1896 wurde der Museumsverein von Vác mit dem Ziel gegründet, die Gegenstände und Dokumente mit musealem Wert aus Vác zu sammeln und einem breiten Publikum zu präsentieren. Erst 1931 bekam der Verein ein dauerhaftes Museumsgebäude mit einer Dauerausstellung in der Papnevelde (heute Múzeum)Strajle. Das Museum siedelte im Jahre 2003 um, die Ausstellungen kann man an mehreren Orten in der Stadt besuchen. Das Museum wird seit 2013 von der Stadtverwaltung Vác finanziert. Der Sammlungsbereich des Museums umfasst das Gebiet der Stadt und 38 Siedlungen in der Umgebung sowie die Themen Heimatgeschichte, Volkskunde, Kunst und Archäologie.

Vácsky muzeálny spolok bol zalozeny v roku 1896, za svoj hlavny ciei povazoval zozbieranie vsetkych vecnych pamiatok a inych dokumentov, vzíahujúcich sa na mesto Vác, a následne sprístupnenie tejto zbierky verejnosti. Stálou budovou múzea spolok disponoval iba od roku 1931, svoju stálu vystavu otvorili na Seminárnej ulici (v súcasnosti Múzejná). Múzeum Ignáca Tragora v roku 2003 nasfahovali do novej budovy, ktorej vystavné priestory sa nachádzajú v röznych lokalitách mesta. Od roku 2013 zriad'ovatelöm oblastného múzea je Samospráva mestaVác, oblast vyskumu okrem mestaVáczahrna 38 d'alsích osád. Podía okruhu úloh zbiera miestopisné, etnografické, vytvarné a archeologické pamiatky.

Tragor Ignác (1869-1941) ügyvéd, takarékpénztári igazgató, múzeumalapító, Vác díszpolgára, kormányfőtanácsos, a Szent István Akadémia tagja, számtalan ma is nélkülözhetetlen helytörténeti munka szerzője. A múzeum 1990-ben vette fel a nevét.

Ignác Tragor (1869-1941) lawyer, director of Savings Bank, museum director, honorary citizen of Vác, government counsellor, member of the St. Stephen Academy, author of a great number of still indispensable works on local history. The museum took his name in 1990.

Ignác Tragor (1869-1941) war Anwalt, Direktor der Sparkasse, Museumsgründer, Ehrenbürger der Stadt, Regierungsrat, Mitglied der Heiligen Stefan Akademie und auch Verfasser sämtlicher Heimatforschungsarbeiten. Das Museum erhielt seinen Namen im Jahrei990.
