The inhabitants are of various origin, many of whom still retain their folk traditions and costumes. In the river valleys people used to earn their livings by growing vegetables, on the hillsides viticulture provided a living, while many others worked for the railway. This region is an excellent destination for everybody who fancies hunting, angling or horse riding. The revival of the spectacular old folk traditions as well as local wine and food are celebrated by programmes in the villages in every season.
