Tartalom
Cserhát region and the valley of the Galga Stream Cserhát is part of the Northern Medium Mountain Range dominating mainly the area ofNógrád county, hut its southern part extending to Pest county as well. Smaller cones and shorter ridges are characteristic features of it: the elevations made up of eruptive rocks (hasalt, pyroxen-andesit) rise 100—200 meters above the lower sandstone hilly country. Its quarries used to provide building material for the area for a long time. East and south of Vác there are a lot of settlements with mainly Slovak inhabitants still retaining their national costumes. Apart from the nice countryside manor houses, mansions, the ruins of ancient castles are places of interest. In the past centuries several noble families had landed property, which had their effect on the villagescape.
