SUMMARY In the SPORT LIFE (by Miklós Tóth, Washington, D. C.) we present an article on “The Present Hungarian Sport as Reflected in the Accomplishments of the Best Sportsmen.” Mr. Tóth states that the great success of Hungarian sportsmen and mass sports indicate an important post-war development. Then the author goes on to introduce some of the most famous Hungarian athletes. * ♦ * GYULA SZEKFÜ, one of the most controversial public figures of Hungary’s recent history, has recently died. Dr. Ferenc Wagner shows the reader some of the highlights of Szekfü’s life. Szekfü was a historian and his work influenced the thinking for a long time of many of his fellow countrymen. An ardent supporter of every Hungarian regime, in the last years of his life he became an obedient servant of the communists, being first ambassador to Moscow, to become finally a member of the so-called Presidential Council. According to the author, careful research of many years will be needed to reconstruct the true picture of Gyula Szekfü. * * * Our literary section features poems by JÓZSEF REMÉNYI, FERENC FÁY, TIBOR FLÓRIÁN and BÉLA VÍG. 341 —
