CONTENTS REV. ANDRÁS HARSÁNYI, D. L. (Ellicottville, N. Y.) publisher of the paper, emphasizes in his article, “New Wine — New Drain” that the paper, which appears in a new form and with a new work program with the new year is, after all, based on the old principles but on a more extensive basis. He illustrates this point by excerpts taken from the founding and later issues and points out that the publication and its sustaining organization, the Hungarian Cultural Fellowship, are in force today; i. e. the establishment of Hungarian future on the basis of Christian love and democracy, freedom of expression in culture and literature, and the establishment of new and closer ties between a liberated Hungary and the U. S. A. The publication may contain new matter from new writers, but the paper cannot have a new owner because he is the same as when the publication began, the Great Owner. ★ ★ ★ ELEMÉR BAKÓ, Ph. D., the editor of the paper, in his “Why the Need for the Géza Soos Press Foundation”, writes that ten years after the beginning of the Hungarian emigration, there is a need for a general review: to what extent have life, cultural accomplishments, society and politics changed in Hungary, in the countries behind the iron curtain and in the world generally. The publication of such an important intellectual research necessitates and demands a larger reading public and a larger publication. The purpose of the Géza Soos Press Foundation is to make possible this wider basis, to enhance this work and to educate a new generation in the field of endeavor. The editors also publish on another page the results of the Géza Soos Press Foundation. The donations to date, primarily from the subscriptions of the editors and members of the Hungarian Cultural Fellowship, amount to $1,620.00. ★ ★ ★ FERENC WAGNER, a former member of the Hungarian foreign service, writes about “The Hungarian History-Writing Since 1945”. Mr. Wagner points out that the communist rulers of the country forged the entire Hungarian history. They claim that the Magyars are of Slavic origin, and throughout their history they were oriented toward the East. It was not an easy task to perform this forgery, because the old historians, with a few exceptions, were not willing to go along. But the new, communist educated historian generation writes everything it is told to do. A leading figure in this unscientific forgery is Professor Szekfü, who, before the war, was the main propagator of the Western, mainly German, orientation.
