It illustrates also the unreasoning way in which the Unitarians of England are mostly regarded, in their religious character; for this is evidently a part of the same antiquated and intolerant spirit of which I have just spoken. I will not dwell further on this; but will now con­clude with a few words on a different and pleasanter topic. I would beg to offer you my warmest congratula­tions on this large and inspiring Conference, met as it is in this spacious and beautiful church. I need say nothing more than has been said already te assure you of the great interest and sympathy felt by numerous friends in England, in connection with this occasion, and the evidence afforded by it of the earnest life and energy of the churches which this Conference represents. The warm interest in Hungary felt by our people not only in regard to religion but in other and political respects, has been exhibited from time to time in vari­ous ways; and it is not too much (I am sure) for me to say that it will continue to be exhibited.
