Man’s present work is the application of new and potent forces; wercby he erects stupendous’structures, in which his genius proudly soars aloft; while his enterprising hand has planted over the earth mighty mechanisms moving with amazing swiftness and ceaseless whirl. Humanity has reached a stage when progress takes great and rapid strides. Human culture has already, to a large ex­tent, attained maturity. Before our eyes the universe is enlarged. So like­wise is the power of God. Standing amid the glories of an enlarged Universe, and a mature humanity, we are conscious that a spiritual thought, clearer than of yore, shines in the soul and brightens in the conscience. The light that illumines the soul, the feeling deepseated in the breast, bear witness to the One Eternal God. tr. by the Author.
