144 plishments which the English and American brethren are not cognisant of, their intercourse with you being so limited. I wish to know those virtues : I am even now learning to speak with you in order to understand you aright. I shonld like to extend the hand of fellowship to all the young people here. But on what ground do we meet, friends ? I say then look at your Bishop, as it were, your good father, one Avhom we have not in America. Now, just as the children of a family may come together and say, „what is it father wants to do ? What can wo do to help father ?“ and then they joyn hands in cooperation with him, so you, dear Hungarian youth, may come together in this handsome Inulcling and say in like manner and with like feeling, „What is it Our lather wishes ? Can we not somehow do His will ?“ I am sure your Bishop, with God’s help, will respond. I speak to you, friends, as the representative of a little Boston Church whose pastor, Mr. Thomas Van Ness, has lately been chosen president of the YungPeop le’s Religious Union in America. Í would speak to you at this closing moment with h i s spirit; I vould deliver to you h i s message of the possible organisation of young people i n the church for good to the church. The fathers of families die and, the children rise to fill their places and perform their duties. So the elders of the church are called away and the young people must by and by come forward and take their places. I would extand this call from my dear pastor to every Unitarian Church in Hungary, not simply to the parish that meets here. [Dr. Chester closed his speech with a few well chosen Hungarian words in which he prayed God’s blessing on the holy Unitarian Church. His Avords were received Avith loud éljens and cheers.]
