It is a great happiness to me to find myself again in Hungary after 5 years absence and to see so many of the faces around me of the former students in our English Unitarian College. This is a country which has a sacred and tender memory for me. I first came here in 1858 as a young girl in the company of a loved and honored father the Rev Eduard Tagart, bringing you that financial succour, which he had been so urgent to collect from the English Unitarians to save your College from the exactions of the Austrian Government of that period. When I first came to Ivolosvár 1 stayed at the house of Mr. Paget. Mr. Székely was then the bishop to be succeeded by Mr. Kriza. Thirtytwo years elapsed before I was again free to visit your country and see the dévelopement of your country and language with my heart, but I was not able te see it all with my own eyes till 1890. when I was permitted to come with my friend Miss Florence Hill who is so well known to you as the pioneer of the Postal Mission and so much good Unitarian work. I was with Mr. Ierson the late Secretary of the British and Foreign Unitarian Association, who came with clear head, and courteous manner, bringing you the greetings of that body. I am sure that his visit to you was a great pleasure to him. For a time his health was improved by the change and the relaxation from the office work of Essex Hall. You cannot but remember the painstaking manner in which he devoted himself to grasp all the details of your ecclesiastical and religious position with which you supplied him. When ever I met him during that last year of his life, he spoke with animation and gratitude of all the kindness you had shown him and the impression his stay in Hungary had made upon him.
