FROM A FEW WORDS FROM THE EDITOR The response to the introduction of this special New Jersey section in our January and February issues has been most encouraging. Most of the“Lettersto-the-Editor” we have received so far have been favorable, subscriptions have begun to come in, and inquiries from Hungarian business people around the state about our advertising rates are increasing. This does not mean to imply, however, that no brickbats were hurled our way by those who have a special knack for voicing negative opinions about everybody and everything. But these barbs were very few, indeed, and we found good use for them in our wastepaper basket. What we want to achieve, and have set out to achieve, is no easy task. To attain our objective requires the expenditure of considerable time, effort, and money, too. But, if the end result of such an investment is a product-in-print that will merit your interest, readership, and subscription support, it is well worth it. The only way we can measure the positive impact of our endeavor is by the volume of subscriptions generated. So far, we have done as well as projected. But, now, we must do much better than we have done these first three months. WE NEED YOUR SUBSCRIPTION SUPPORT! Our subscription rates are only SI 5.00 a year, which averages out to about $ 1.25 a month. Surely, what this publication has tried to do so far in its 10-year history to foster the best interests of our Hungarian Heritage is worth that much to you, or isn’t it? You can answer this question by sending in your subscription now. Back To The Books A young man had just returned from agricultural college and was visiting a neighboring farmer to show off. “Your methods are so old-fashioned,” the visitor declared. “Why, I’ll bet you don’t get 10 pounds of apples from that tree.” “I dare say you’re right,” said the farmer. “That’s a pear tree.” —Quote Eighth Hungarian Tribe Page 10
