HUNGARIAN BUSINESS PEOPLF THE HUNGARIAN MEAT MARKET A new Hungarian meat market has opened in New Brunswick. It is Marika and Imre Papp’s “HUNGARIAN MEAT MARKET” at 311 Somerset Street (Tel: 201-247-8275). What is different about this particular meat market, is that its meat products are all European and home made. And there is good reason why they are. Imre Papp is related to a family in Hungary who have been meat packers and butchers for more than 100 years. What’s more, he earned a Master Certificate as a Chef de Cuisine at the "Élelmiszeripari Tecknikum” in Budapest and then went on to become a Chief Cook and Butcher in the Hungarian army. Both Marika and Imre were born in Nagykanizsa, Hungary, and were married there. They emigrated to the U.S. in 1972 and now are the proud parents of a daughter, Melina. “We started our Hungarian Meat Market here in New Brunswick,” Imre said, “because we learned that there was great need for home made meat products at reasonable prices.” The new Hungarian Meat Market also carries a full line of imported groceries. Inquiries from Hungarian clubs, church groups, and organizations are welcomed. EAST BRUNSWICK FOREIGN CAR REPAIRS, INC. When Attila Soltész of Godollo, Hungary, came to the U.S. with the first wave of Hungarian refugees in 1956, he didn’t have a dime. He did, however, have know-how in his hands and lots of get-up-and-go in his mind and heart. That is why he is today the President of the East Brunswick Foreign Car Repairs, Inc., at Harts Lane, in East Brunswick, New Jersey (Tel: 201-254-6501), which is, to be sure, much more than only a foreign car repair service. “First of all,” Attila explained, “we do not specialize in only one type of foreign car, but are specialists in all of them. We also restore Classic domestic and foreign cars and, in fact, we have one of the largest collections of old sports car parts in this whole area. You can also say that we have the largest foreign car junkyard, too, but, what may be junk to one person, could be precious to another. Especially to a person who is into restoring Classic automobiles.” While Attila hails from Godollo, his wife, Katalin, is from Zallamegye. The couple have two children, Attila, Jr. and Gabriella, and live in Spotswood.
