-I CLUB NEWS CLUB DIRECTORY Joseph Bodnar, the well-known Director of the American-Hungarian Theatrical Group of the American- Hungarian Citizens Clv.hof Rahway. THEATRICAL GROUP PRESENTS MUSICAL-PLAY CLARK — The American-Hungarian Theatrical Group of the American- Hungarian Citizens Club of Rahway presented on Sunday, April 20th, one of the finest musical-plays ever written and produced about the impact of war upon the lives of average Hungarians. Timeframed during the early 1850’s at the time of the Austro-Italian conflict, the “AZ OBSITOS” was written by Kalman Bakonyi and the music for it was composed by Imre Kalman. This musical-play, one of the most ambitious ever attempted by the Theatrical Group, was-staged under the direction of Joseph Bodnar and the musical direction of Angela Horvath Pulitzer. The members of the cast included Kati Ágh, László Bagyi, Zsoka Bagyi, John Bali, Sarika Bali, Terez Bali, Magda Emody, Dezső Haklar, Tibor Kacsoh, Irene Korom, Joseph Sarossy, Bela Schmidt, Helen Sípos, László Szabó, and Joseph Tabajdi. FOLK MUSEUM SCHEDULES LECTURE-BALLADS PASSAIC — The Hungarian Folk Museum, 217 Third Street, Passaic, recently announced that, on Sunday afternoon starting at 3:00 P.M., May 20th, it will sponsor a lecture and Hungarian ballads by Dalman Hunyadi- Brunauer. This performance is supported by a grant from the New Jersey Committee for the Humanities. Current exhibits at the museum until May 20th include parta and beadworks by Evelyn Dómján; woodcuts by Joseph Dómján; potteries by Ildikó Berger; Hungarian photos by Ilona Hadhazy; and a model of a typical Hungarian peasant home. HUNGARIAN DAY AT “THE TANYA” LANSDALE, PA. — The Philadelphia & Vicinity Hungarian Sport Club, which owns and operates the 120-acre facility called “The Tanya” in Hereford, Pennsylvania, recently announced that it will again sponsor a “Hungarian Day” at its beautiful estate on Saturday, July 21st, 1984, from 12:00 o’clock noon until the wee hours of Sunday morning, July 22nd. The day’s program includes exhibits, a large variety of Hungarian foods and pastries, a performance by the champion Magyar Tanya Boy and Girl Scouts Dance Troupe, swimming in the facility’s olympic-size swimming pool, and sports contests. A full-course Hungarian dinner will be served in the evening. Music for entertainment and dancing will be provided by the John Szabó Dance Orchestra. Admission is only $3.00 and there is plenty of parking space. Bus groups are welcome.
