Page 2 THE EIGHTH TRIBE August — September, 1981 DEDICATION This magazine is dedicated to the Eighth Tribe in America, descendants of the original Seven Magyar Tribes. Whatever their faith, their familiarity with their ancestral language, or their degree of Hungarian ancestry, we address ourselves to each of them. If this reading is your first acquaintance with “THE EIGHTH TRIBE", we hope you find it informative and enjoyable and that in time you will become one of our regular subscribers. This magazine is and remains the “LIFE LINE" that keeps us together, that makes us and shapes us into a national Family. THE EDITOR’S CORNER . . . Sincerely yours, Lillian Star Woodhaven, New York Dear Mr. Chomos: It has been my intention to write to you for a long time. The opportunity of the Conference you are planning has caused me to write at last. We have been receiving the Eighth Tribe at our church and I must say it is very informative. The items are well put together and I have given the copies to various members of the church. I don’t know if they have followed up and taken subscriptions. As a show of my faith in your publication please put me down for a subscription. One of the most difficult things we face is to overcome the apathy of so many Hungarian- Americans. The great American Dream has worked too well for many Hungarians. They have lost touch with their past and it is up to publications such as yours to keep reminding us of who we are. The problem is that this has been going on for many years. A point of information might interest you. Recently, a film about the Hungarians in Bridgeport was aired on Public TV. Your publication might want to publish something about it. The title of the film was “Searching for Wordin Avenue.” If you wish more information please feel free to contact me and I will send any further information. May God Bless your work and all your energy for the Hungarian Cause! Sincerely, Rev. Anthony Szilágyi Bridgeport, Conn.
