Dezső Parragh, the newly elected Bishop of the Calvin Synod The 41st Annual Synod meeting of the Calvin Synod, United Church of Christ, was held on May 21, 22 and 23rd in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Király, Passaic, New Jersey, as Synod Secretary, and Rev. Miklós Novák, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, as Synod Treasurer. The Rt. Rev. Dr. John Bütösi, the present Bishop, reported on the status of the Calvin Synod. There are 39 Hungarian Reformed Churches belong to the Calvin Synod, with 80 delegates representing these churches. The newly elected officers are: Rt. Rev. Dr. Dezső Parragh, of Chicago, III. as Bishop. Elmer Charles, president of the William Penn Fraternal Association, as Synod Presbyter. Rt. Rev. Dr. John Bütösi, Bridge­port Connecticut, as Deputy-Bishop. Rev. Zoltán Bishop Parragh was born in Budapest, Hungary. He was ordained in 1935. Through Scholarships he continued his studies in Strasburg, France, and Prince­ton, New Jersey, where he received his Master Degree in Theology. He continued his studies for doctorate at Columbia University and the Union Theological Seminary in New York City.
